Why The Boston Globe Cares About Guinea

"its soil has diamonds, gold, iron, and half the world’s reserves of the raw material used to make aluminum"

That's the only reason I can think of -- either that or their dictatorial puppets are being threatened (or they want to over throw a regime). For some who see too much "conspiracy" from me, just remember that the CIA has a STATION in EVERY COUNTRY in the WORLD (except maybe a few small Pacific island nations).

Otherwise, they would ignore it much like they ignore most of Africa (except when some agenda is at stake; then the stories rise up from nowhere).

Too prove my point, they whacked what was in my printed paper; this is all I am left with:

"Guinean soldiers kill 10 at protest" by Associated Press | September 29, 2009

CONAKRY, Guinea - Demonstrations against Camara have grown but none of the responses have been as violent as yesterday’s.

--more--"

What is CUT from the WEB VERSION is this:

Last Thursday, tens of thousands in a town north of Conakry took to the streets with no serious incidents.

Now WHY would the Boston Globe NOT WANT READERS to know this information? Wouldn't want ANY AMERICANS to GET ANY IDEAS, huh?

This ALSO TELLS YOU SOMETHING about the alleged coup that took place late last year (more on that below).

Since winning independence half a century ago from France, Guinea has been pillaged by its ruling elite.

Again, why would the Globe excise this crucial and relevant information? Looking in a mirror, America?

Its people are among the world's poorest, even though its soil has diamonds, gold, iron, and half the world's reserves of the raw material used to make aluminum."

If US elites really cared about Africa they would not allow the very systems they have constructed to do this to them.

That's why so much of the human rights rhetoric I read in the paper rings hollow to me. I don't doubt it is happening to some degree; however, it is only there to push an agenda.

And I THINK the NUMBER of PEOPLE DEMANDED COVERAGE, don't you?

As hospitals were flooded yesterday, human rights groups said that 157 people had been killed and more than 1,200 wounded when soldiers opened fire Monday in Conakry, Guinea.

Yes, America, there is MUCH YOU COULD LEARN from POOR AFRICANS!

LOOK AT 'EM!!!!

Where are you?

"Guinea death toll rises day after shooting of protesters; Coup leader says he can’t control troops" by Alhassan Sillah, Associated Press | September 30, 2009

CONAKRY, Guinea - Soldiers reeking of alcohol fired into the air yesterday, terrorizing residents a day after troops killed 157 people at a pro-democracy rally, and shattered hopes that this West African country was shedding the yoke of dictatorship.

So ALL THAT was a SHOW COUP with the SAME S***TERS pulling the strings, huh?

U.S. Planning Counter-Coup in Guinea

No wonder the Guinean people are pissed!

Hospitals were flooded with patients yesterday and the death toll rose through the day after presidential guard troops opened fire on 50,000 people at the main football stadium. Some of those at the rally, upset that a military officer who seized power in a December coup might run for president in January elections, had chanted “We want true democracy.’’

Then Captain Moussa “Dadis’’ Camara’s presidential guard opened fire with live ammunition, scattering panicked demonstrators who left scores of dead behind. Opposition politician Mutarr Diallo said he witnessed soldiers raping women with rifle butts....

I don't know; seems sort of fantastic, but if true....!!!!

Witnesses told New York-based Human Rights Watch that security forces stripped female protesters and raped them in the streets. The rights group, citing witness reports, said soldiers also stabbed protesters with knives and bayonets....

Camara, who was not present at the stadium, said the violence was beyond his control:

“Even I, as head of state in this very tense situation, cannot claim to be able to control those elements in the military.’’

**********************

Guinea’s mineral-rich soil had been plundered by two consecutive dictatorships before Camara seized control of the country a day after President Lansana Conte, who had ruled for nearly a quarter-century, died on Dec. 22. Camara initially was embraced by Guineans, thousands of whom lined the streets to applaud him as he rode through the capital on the back of a flatbed military truck.

Yes, I REMEMBER!

But since then, tensions have risen....

And CUI BONO?

Demonstrations against Camara have grown in recent weeks, but the reaction by security forces had been comparatively moderate. Late last month, police fired tear gas to break up a demonstration in the capital, and last Thursday tens of thousands of residents in a town north of Conakry took to the streets with no serious incidents.

Yes, it is ODD how the Glob MISSED THOSE MASSIVE PROTESTS, huh?

And how odd the government reaction for so long.

Is this the U.S counter-counter-coup?

On the deserted streets of this seaside capital yesterday, mechanic Mohammed Bangoura discussed politics with friends outside his derelict workshop and said Camara has now completely lost the people’s support. “Dadis Camara’s political career, if he had any ambition, is gone,’’ Bangoura said. “The killing of all these innocent protesters can only mean doom for his political ambition.’’

Then again, the lack of coverage of the people's protest could mean they are losing control of the situation entirely.

The African Union, the European Union, and the government of neighboring Senegal denounced Monday’s bloodshed. The AU already had suspended Guinea’s membership after Camara seized power. France’s foreign minister said his country is suspending military cooperation with its former colony.

So it still was cooperating? There is your answer about the coup. And now that the globalist organizations are against it; starting to wonder about those reports. Did you watch the video?

Hardly anyone had heard of Camara, an army captain in his 40s, until his men broke down the glass doors of the state TV station on Dec. 23. He announced that the constitution had been dissolved and that the country was under the rule of a military junta. Many began to question his tactics when he authorized raids on the homes of well-known members of the dead president’s inner circle.

Of course, that wouldn't have been the people who cheered him at the time. That's the suck-s*** elite that live in avarice while their people suffer.

Camara claimed the raids were intended to recoup money and property stolen from the state, but many complained of heavy-handed tactics. Since winning independence half a century ago from France, Guinea has been pillaged by its ruling elite. Its 10 million people are among the world’s poorest, even though its soil has diamonds, gold, iron, and half the world’s reserves of the raw material used to make aluminum.

Yeah, the MSM saves the REAL REASON they care for the LAST SENTENCE -- again!!!

They prove the point by sticking with it

"Guinea bans protests, gatherings; UN condemns soldiers’ attack, seeks inquiry" by Alhassan Sillah, Associated Press | October 1, 2009

CONAKRY, Guinea - Guinea’s military leader banned all gatherings and demonstrations yesterday, as the United Nations pressed for an independent investigation into why troops opened fire on 50,000 pro-democracy protesters.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay condemned the soldiers’ use of live ammunition against the unarmed people who gathered Monday in a stadium in Conakry, the capital, to protest against Captain Moussa “Dadis’’ Camara, the country’s leader.

A human rights group said 157 people were killed and more than 1,200 were wounded. The government maintains that 57 people died and said most of them were trampled. The UN Security Council also condemned the shootings yesterday and joined the call for an independent investigation. Susan Rice, the US ambassador to the United Nations and the current council president, called on the government to free all opposition leaders and political prisoners “without delay.’’

Okay, CONSIDER THIS REACTION to the reaction to ISRAEL'S ONGOING WAR CRIMES in PALESTINE!

If the GLOBALISTS are reacting this way it TELLS YOU A LOT!!!

It TELLS YOU they DON'T LIKE the CURRENT REGIME!

Now, that DOES NOT EXCUSE the KILLING of INNOCENT PEOPLE; however, are AMERIKA'S LEADERS held responsible for ALL ATROCITIES COMMITTED by THEIR TROOPS? Do we not have "political" prisoners who have been TORTURED?

Guinea’s government said it will investigate why troops opened fire at the pro-democracy rally....

Probably not good enough.

Camara called for two days of mourning starting yesterday. Shops, schools, and gas stations were closed. An opposition leader said yesterday that his faction had no plans to hold another demonstration. “Our priority is to bury our dead and to take care of our wounded,’’ Sidya Toure said by phone. “You know, Conakry is a very small town, people are traumatized.’’

Toure, a former prime minister, was arrested during the protests and released Tuesday. He said he suffered head wounds and returned home to find his house ransacked. The house was also used as opposition party headquarters. Camara appeared on state television late Tuesday, blaming the opposition for acting irresponsibly in the demonstration and calling for an inquiry.

The protest in the capital’s main soccer stadium turned bloody when Camara’s presidential guard opened fire into the crowd of 50,000, scattering panicked demonstrators and leaving behind scores of dead. Witnesses told New York-based Human Rights Watch that security forces stripped female protesters and raped them. The rights group, citing witnesses, said soldiers also stabbed protesters with bayonets.

“It was the opposition politicians who led other people’s sons and daughters to their deaths while their own sons and daughters are comfortably living elsewhere,’’ Camara said, referring to wealthy Guineans who send their children abroad to study.

Sounds like AmeriKa's elite and our wars.

He said the government would pay the families of the wounded and dead. “I call on imams, political leaders, civil society groups, and the mass media to refrain from doing or saying things that will further plunge this country into anarchy,’’ he said.

We will have to see how much longer the Globe sticks with the story.

Will it be like Mugabe, where after weeks of demonizing (not that the guy doesn't deserve it, but the arbitrariness of it all in the enemy-creating, agenda-pushing, war-promoting press....) by the MSM, the matter disappeared?

Yeah, that was the last we heard of it.

And I thought this was an interesting epilogue
:

"Africa: U.S. Military Holds War Games on Nigeria, Somalia

President Obama has decided instead to expand the operations of Africom throughout the continent. He has proposed a budget for financial year 2010 that will provide increased security assistance to repressive and undemocratic governments in resource-rich countries like Nigeria, Niger, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and to countries that are key military allies of the United States like Ethiopia, Kenya, Djibouti, Rwanda and Uganda."
