Now he has tacked on state and local political races. With an off-year election fast approaching, Obama is stepping up his commitment to Democratic candidates in hopes that an infusion of campaign charisma might pump up turnout.
Yeah, I know about the politicking. First San Francisco, then Massachusetts, then Miami. So much for CLIMATE CHANGE and the CARBON FOOTPRINT, 'eh, bamer?
What the party is finding, though, is that the electricity of 2008 is tough to recapture.
Especially when you have NOT DONE WHAT WE WANTED for OVER THREE YEARS! The patience has run out.
Some Democratic candidates running for local office around the country call the phenomenon the “Obama Hangover.’’ It is proving tougher to recruit volunteers and get people to vote.
That DOES NOT MAKE SENSE if DEMOCRATS were DOING WHAT WE WANTED! We would be EAGER to DO THOSE THINGS -- even MORE EAGER because "we" would be WINNING!
“It’s like the morning after the party,’’ said Michael McGann, a Democrat running for clerk of courts in the Philadelphia suburbs. “The party was wonderful and exciting. The day after it’s like, ‘Gee, I don’t want to do that again for a while.’ ’’

What could he possibly mean "don't want to do that again" when they WON SUCH a LANDSLIDE?!! Do Democrats even WANT TO SUCCEED?
Obama is trying to inspire voters with the “fired up; ready to go’’ fervor that made last year’s race riveting political theater.
That didn't work for the guverner (sic) here!
But Democratic candidates are hard pressed to scratch out victories this year in the New Jersey and Virginia governor’s races, and in a congressional race in upstate New York’s 23d District. In New Jersey, local issues such as high property taxes loom large.
But SOMEHOW you BAY-STATERS voted to KEEP the INCOME TAX!
Asked if an appearance by Obama would make them more likely to vote for Governor Jon Corzine, the Democratic incumbent, nearly three-quarters of state voters polled said no.
He is NOT ABOVE 50% APPROVAL as the MSM TRIES to claim, folks!!!
Yup, we get AGENDA-PUSHING POLLS, too!!!
Conditions look even tougher for Democrats in Virginia. A recent survey showed the Democratic candidate for governor, Creigh Deeds, trailing Republican Bob McDonnell by 12 points. Worse for the Democrats, if any one constituency is energized this season it’s conservatives, who are angry about rising deficits, some pollsters said.
Then that would be the WHOLE COUNTRY, hmmm?
“There’s real anger on the right, and that anger isn’t matched by enthusiasm on the left,’’ said Dean Debnam, president of Public Policy Polling. “So the emotion is on the side of the far right.’’

WASHINGTON - Trumpeting a victory against careless spending, President Obama yesterday signed a defense bill that kills some costly weapons projects and expands war efforts. In a major civil rights change, the law also makes it a federal hate crime to assault people based on sexual orientation.

The White House fought back hard yesterday against the suggestion by top Republicans that money can buy untoward access to his administration....
A report in the Washington Times that the Democratic National Committee rewards its top contributors with perks that include small-group briefings with senior Obama administration officials, conference calls, and other exclusive access to policymakers. Two one-page fact sheets posted online by the paper explain the benefits of membership in the DNC’s National Advisory Board and its National Finance Committee. Donors who give the maximum allowed by law to the party - $30,400 - or who bundle $300,000 from other contributors gain membership into the exclusive groups.

The letter by the name makes no difference; it is the same people anteing up the loot.
During his 2008 campaign, Obama promised to change the way things are done in Washington, but Democratic and White House officials shrugged off the documents as part of normal “donor maintenance’’ that does not provide contributors with any quid pro quo. And they insisted that current donors are getting fewer perks than they did during Bill Clinton’s term, when overnights in the Lincoln Bedroom became controversial....

Citing the connection between education and employment figures, transportation and pollution, White House officials said their next budget proposal would address how to remedy long-festering policy questions about the pace of urban growth.
