"16 suspected of gang ties arrested in Chelsea" by John M. Guilfoil, Globe Staff | January 13, 2010

Sixteen suspected gang members and repeat drug offenders were behind bars yesterday after a nine-month state, local, and federal law enforcement operation in Chelsea dubbed Operation Crossroads.

Authorities built cases against several people, securing federal indictments for 11 and state arrest warrants for five. On Friday, a law enforcement task force headed by federal agents raided the homes of what they called career criminals who had set up shop in the city’s Bellingham Square area, making it a gun and drug haven, police said.

The suspects face a variety of drug and firearm charges, and those hit with federal indictments face up to 30 years in prison. “These are some absolutely violent people,’’ said Chelsea police Captain Keith Houghton.

Houghton said the investigation allowed authorities to capture members of well-known North Shore gangs and other violent offenders. Locally, Houghton said, intimidated witnesses prevented police from building cases against many of the suspects, but, with federal help, they were able to build long-term cases against the suspects.

“The Chelsea Police Department will continue to conduct these operations that target this very dangerous element,’’ Chief Brian A. Kyes said in a statement. “The department has prioritized focused enforcement on these repeat offenders and will continue to work with our federal and state partners in this aggressive pursuit to make Chelsea safer.’’

The FBI declined to comment, but Houghton said other suspects may be pursued.

"Falmouth police investigate alleged teen gang rape

Oh, I did not want to see this!!!!

FALMOUTH, Mass. --Falmouth police are investigating allegations that a teenage girl was gang raped last summer at a youth party where alcohol was available.

Please don't drink or do drugs, kids.

Such beauty lost at such an early age.

Police tell the Cape Cod Times that several teens, including Falmouth High School students, held a house party Aug. 30 where the girl was raped by an undetermined number of boys.

I'm feeling queasy.

Police had first said she was 13, but later said she was older than 13 and younger than 16.

Does it matter?

One suspect has been arrested. John Graci Jr. pleaded not guilty to rape and statutory rape last month. The 17-year-old Graci's lawyer, J. Drew Segadelli, says the charges stem from hearsay, speculation and schoolyard rumors. Police say the case remains under investigation....

Can it get any worse?

Yup:

"Falmouth police expand gang rape investigation

FALMOUTH, Mass. --Falmouth police have released additional details about an alleged gang rape at a teenage house party last summer.

Police now say there are two alleged victims at the August party and there have been two arrests. Investigators allege a 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted once by one suspect, while a 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by up to four suspects.

A gang bang orgy of rape, huh? AmeriKa.... sigh.

They say in addition to the arrest of 17-year-old John P. Graci Jr. of Falmouth, a 16-year-old boy has been arrested. Graci has pleaded not guilty. His lawyer says the allegations are nothing more than schoolyard rumors.

Chief Anthony Riello says the investigation continues and at least two more sexual assault arrests are expected. Police are also looking into the possible intimidation of the alleged victims.
