Selecting a Senator: The Real Winner in Tomorrow's Vote

They have it in the bag -- literally -- and taking it all the way to the bank (no doubt)!!!

"Special election brings bounty of ads for media" by Jenn Abelson and Johnny Diaz, Globe Staff | January 17, 2010

Tuesday’s election may be too close to call, but the media will be the clear winner, after nearly $5 million for campaign advertisements poured into local TV and radio stations in the final days of the US Senate race.

It’s an unprecedented deluge of spending over such a short period for any political race in Massachusetts, according to media analysts and local TV station managers. The surge of back-to-back campaign spots, by Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Scott Brown and their supporters, started last week as the race tightened and the Commonwealth became the front line of the nationwide battle over how to overhaul health care....

And BELIEVE ME, I will be GLAD when the VOTE is OVER because you can't turn that set on at any time of the day or on any program (save for a pay-movie-channel) without seeing those damn ads over and over again!!

I'm SICK of them BOTH NOW!!! I DON'T LIKE EITHER ONE!!!!

Besides the unexpected cash the race is bringing to local stations, the onslaught has led to the unusual phenomenon of spots running back to back as stations cram them into available air time....

Yes, and it is VERY CONFUSING!

You CAN'T TELL one from the other!!!

Now, the race to fill the late Edward M. Kennedy’s seat is proving to be a bonanza for local stations, and even newspapers, at a key time: January is typically the slowest month for media advertising revenue....

Oh, I'M SMELLING a REAL STINK about the self-serving "horse race," aren't you?

The MILLIONS-a-WEEK in LOSSES got a BOOST from all this politicking?

Even print outlets, such as The Boston Globe and the Boston Herald, which do not traditionally attract many political ads, had an unexpected boost in ads on their websites....

Am I picking on them too much, readers?

I guess I'm feeling betrayed by the unending stream of agenda-pushing lies, divisions, insults, and elitist attitudes they promote every day. Been reading 'em a long time and I never remember them being this bad (although I was seeing them in a different light back then).

Read about the rest of the Boston MSM seen if you want. I don't watch news on television.

--more--"

Oh, btw, it is FUN seeing the ADS during the FOOTBALL GAMES!!

I gotta tell you, I know they are hoping but that was a WASTE of MONEY!

Two of the guys DIDN'T EVEN KNOW there was an ELECTION!! A third guy wasn't voting, and my friend who has to put up with me will be going, but he won't vote for a woman so he'll probably vote Brown.

That's what he did with Romney against Heal in 2002.
