"With aid to Greece likely, market breathes easier
The Dow jumped back above 10,000 on hopes the European Union will help Greece manage its growing debt before its troubles spill into other countries. Major indexes all gained more than 1%. But Europe’s problems - budget gaps are causing concern in Ireland, Portugal, and Spain, too - have led investors to put what was a 10-month stock rally on hold.
Translation: their global project is failing.

And I just can't help but get the feeling the that change Greeks voted for is getting squeezed:
"Greece vows retirement, tax reforms" by Associated Press | February 10, 2010
ATHENS - Greece took further steps yesterday to calm global markets spooked by its debt crisis, pledging to increase retirement ages, accelerate reforms, and reform its ineffective tax system, on the eve of the first nationwide strike against new austerity measures.
Yeah, GOVERNMENTS CARE MORE about the "global market" than they do their OWN PEOPLE!!!
That's why the whole project is failing.
Prime Minister George Papandreou told a cabinet meeting that the reforms “must go ahead now . . . with greater speed.’’
I never like that kind of talk.
When government pushes the gas pedal it is time to slow down.
“Our primary duty now is to save the economy and reduce the debt, aiming to do so through the fairest possible solutions that will protect - as far as that is possible - the weaker and middle classes,’’ said Papandreou.
Always a good idea; however, isn't he screwing the very constituency that got him elected?
Under intense pressure from European Union partners and market speculation - which sharply hiked Greece’s borrowing costs - Papandreou’s center left government has committed to a four-year austerity plan meant to tame a massive budget deficit and soaring debt.
That is NOT WHAT YOU VOTED FOR, was it, Greeks?
And you SEE the HANDS of the GLOBALIST CONTROLLERS, don't you?
They DID NOT LIKE YOU electing a NEW GOVERNMENT, Greeks -- so the HIKED YOUR BORROWING COSTS!!!
The reforms disclosed so far have angered powerful labor unions, and civil servants have called a nationwide strike today. The walkout will affect state schools, hospitals, tax offices, and local government offices, while Greek airports will be closed to international and domestic flights.
The same kind of action is needed here in America.

And WTF, I thought it was a done deal:
"EU considers aid as Greek workers strike" by Associated Press | February 11, 2010
ATHENS - Greek workers shut down schools, grounded flights, and walked out of hospitals yesterday to protest austerity measures brought on by the nation’s staggering debt, as European leaders wrangled over whether and how to come to the country’s financial rescue.
Greece’s prime minister headed to a European Union summit where leaders will address the debt crisis today. Greece’s fiscal problems have shaken the euro and underscored the interconnectedness of the global economy.
All the more reason to DISENGAGE from the RUINOUS PLOT and PLANS!
Doing MORE of what got you there isn't going to help. Never does.
US and European stocks rose on hopes for a rescue plan that might take pressure off other struggling eurozone countries such as Portugal and Spain, but it is unclear what wealthier EU nations will do to help Greece.
Hey, who cares about those other people. You see what is important to my agenda-driving daily. After all, these articles have been in the business section.
The EU’s largest economies, Germany and France, are ready to offer their support to Greece at the summit but will wait to see if other countries join the effort, a French diplomatic official said in a briefing ahead of the summit.
Why?
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, did not provide specifics.
Why?
“Here’s the message: We are behind Greece,’’ the official said. “I don’t think (financial) aid needs to be extended to Greece tomorrow; I think a message needs to be given to markets that we will know how to resolve the Greek question.’’
Oh, I see.
That's why all those Greeks are in the street.
You know, if I remember that history they taught me at the state-sponsored indoctrination center we call schools you shouldn't push the Greeks too far.
Tough lot from what I remember.
German officials said there is no urgent need for a bailout at the moment and that “no decision on such help’’ is imminent.
Basically, yeah, the last part confirmed by the first part and a lie exposed. I love newspapers and governments.

You going to have to wait for help like us, Greeks?
Been waiting over two years here and it's just gotten worse while banks, war-profiteers, and corporations did splendidly.
