"Massport finishes website makeover

The Massachusetts Port Authority has updated its website so it is easier to find airport and ship information. The $720,000, two-year project upgraded all aspects of Massport’s site, including information about Logan International Airport and the Port of Boston. It tracks arriving and departing flights, offers a radar view, and has parking and terminal information. Thomas Kinton, Massport chief executive, says the site in the authority’s “front door’’ and is a critical link for travelers (AP)."

I'm sure some of my readers will be thrilled with the news.

The Massachusetts Port Authority board yesterday approved the purchase of Worcester Regional Airport, clearing the way for the agency to take possession of the beleaguered airport on July 1. Massport has been running the airport, which is currently owned by the City of Worcester and is served by just one airline, for a decade....

The $17 million sale, a combination of land transfers and $14.4 million in cash, is part of the overhaul of the state’s transportation system....

The Worcester airport faces a number of challenges, including debt, fog, outdated landing systems, and accessibility.

Also at yesterday’s meeting, the Massport board approved a $358.4 million budget for fiscal year 2011, which begins July 1. The budget is up $2 million from last fiscal year and down about $20 million from 2009.

I know they are a separate agency; however, this as your services are being slashed, Bay-Staters!

Chief executive Thomas Kinton said keeping spending essentially flat allows Massport to navigate a challenging year that will reflect the ownership of the Worcester airport and the loss of $20 million in annual profits from the Tobin Bridge....

What they cancel the dinner this year?

And why are YOU PAYING TAXES on something YOU PAID TO BUILD, taxpayers?

But revenues are expected to pick up in the new fiscal year, with passenger traffic at Logan International Airport on track to increase by 3 percent, corporate activity at Hanscom Air Force Base on the rise, container traffic at the port recovering, and the cruise business continuing its record-breaking passenger numbers.
