"Man held in child pornography case had school directories; District officials in Brookline send letters to parents" by Brock Parker, Globe Correspondent | September 18, 2010

School officials in Brookline are evaluating district procedures regarding the release of student data after police discovered that a Brighton man accused of secretly videotaping people inside their homes had copies of the student directories for two schools.

The directories for the kindergarten-through-eighth-grade Devotion School and for Brookline High School were found in the possession of Robert Higgins, according to a letter sent to parents late last month. Higgins is being held without bail on multiple charges of possessing child pornography and photographing unsuspecting people who were in the nude.

The school directories include student names along with the names, addresses, and phone numbers of their parents, school officials said.

Higgins, 50, was arrested just before midnight on Aug. 11 after a Lawton Street resident reported seeing a person shining a light into an apartment....

He's lucky no one shot him.
