Primary Party: Tax Trap

Don't fall for it, America.

"Middle class tax cuts gain support; House GOP leader would vote for bill" by David Herszenhorn, New York Times | September 13, 2010

WASHINGTON — The House Republican leader said yesterday that he was prepared to vote in favor of legislation that would let the Bush-era tax cuts expire for the wealthiest Americans if Democrats insisted on continuing the cuts only for families earning less than $250,000 a year.

Speaking on CBS’s “Face the Nation,’’ Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio made clear that he supports continuing the lower tax rates at all income levels and said Democrats would be making a mistake by increasing taxes on anyone, given the weak economy.

And SO DO I!!

I am SO SICK of HIGHER TAXES I don't even care who they want to hit.

Time to STOP SPENDING SO MUCH and WASTING SO MUCH!

Time to END the FLIPPIN' WARS!!!!!!!!

But Boehner said that absent any other option, he would vote in favor of legislation proposed by President Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and other Democratic leaders who want to continue the lower rates only for Americans they regard as middle class.

“If the only option I have is to vote for some of those tax reductions, I’ll vote for them,’’ Boehner said in response to questioning by the program’s host, Bob Schieffer, who pointedly asked whether Republicans were willing to hold the tax breaks for most Americans “hostage’’ to insist on continuing the lower rates for the highest earners.

Charged language, Bob.

As Congress returns to Washington today with lawmakers in full campaign battle mode, Democratic leaders have drawn up a daring — and potentially unrealistic — agenda for the abbreviated fall work period....

WASHINGTON — Senate Republicans, including Scott Brown of Massachusetts, said yesterday they are opposed to an extension of tax cuts for middle-income families unless cuts also are extended for the wealthiest Americans, setting up a defining showdown with President Obama in the run-up to November’s midterm elections.

"Lawmakers are expected to quickly resume their fight over whether to renew soon-to-expire tax cuts enacted a decade ago under President George W. Bush, though they may not act until after the November elections"

Oh, just what they wanted to be talking about, huh?

Amazing how that works out, MSM.

Also see: Obama to Keep Bush Tax Cuts

Yeah, the word disingenuous comes to mind.

Enjoy the POLITICAL FOOLEYS, folks!!

Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell dug in with an all-or-nothing approach and his spokesman said he had enough votes to block anything that falls short of a continuation of cuts for taxpayers in every bracket....

So for the next two months....

The debate amounts to game of high-stakes chicken over an emotional pocketbook issue that touches on voters’ economic anxieties and populist resentment. If Congress cannot cut a deal by the end of the year, all the Bush-era tax cuts are set to expire....

I'm feeling manipulated.

There is pressure for compromise from some Democrats, like Senators Kent Conrad of North Dakota, Evan Bayh of Indiana, and Ben Nelson of Nebraska. They are siding with Republicans against raising taxes on anyone in a fragile economic recovery.

GOOD!!

Independent Joe Lieberman, who caucuses with Democrats, has said he wants tax cuts extended to everyone but would not vote against a bill that contained reductions only for low- and middle-income payers....

Look at Joe trying to have his cake and eat it, too.

How much you wanna bet he becomes the fulcrum of control in the Senate again?

And about those taxes:

"Capitol Hill workers owe IRS $9.3m in back taxes; GOP wants to fire federal employees who are in arrears" by T.W. Farnam, Washington Post | September 12, 2010

WASHINGTON — Capitol Hill employees owed $9.3 million in overdue taxes at the end of last year, a sliver of the $1 billion owed by federal workers nationwide but one with potential political ramifications for members of Congress....

Yeah, the TAXES are only for YOU TO PAY, taxpayers!

Government is ONE LONG JERK-OFF PARTY!

Nationwide, debt to the IRS had been steadily rising even before the current economic downturn; $103.2 billion was owed at the end of last year.

Tax experts say that delinquencies are another sign of the economic pressures on American families, but they also may represent bad individual money management or skewed spending priorities.

Or TOO MANY TAXES in TOO COMPLEX a CODE!

Aides to Senate majority leader Harry M. Reid, Democrat of Nevada, declined to comment, and aides to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California, did not respond to a request for comment.

Above it all, huh?

Yeah, maybe we have TOO MANY TAXES!

Here is why WE DON'T CARE what the RICH are PAYING right now:

"US poverty rate expected to post a record increase; Overall number could reach 15%, demographers say" by Hope Yen, Associated Press | September 12, 2010

WASHINGTON — The number of people in the United States who are in poverty is on track for a record increase on President Obama’s watch, with the ranks of working-age poor approaching 1960s levels that led to the national war on poverty....

Yes, he has HAD TWO YEARS!!

It’s unfortunate timing for Obama and his party just seven weeks before midterm elections in which control of Congress is at stake. The anticipated poverty rate increase — from 13.2 percent to about 15 percent — would be another blow to Democrats struggling to persuade voters to keep them in power....

I think the House is gone; they probably hold the Senate by a vote or two.

Should those estimates hold true, some 45 million people in this country, or more than 1 in 7, were poor last year....

You are reading the posts of one of them, dear readers.

But if Thursday’s report is as troubling as expected, Republicans in the midst of an increasingly strong drive to win control of the House, if not the Senate, would get one more argument to make against Democrats in the campaign homestretch.

Yeah, they have had their chance and they didn't do what we wanted.

The GOP says voters should fire Democrats because Obama’s economic fixes are hindering the sluggish economic recovery. Rightly or wrongly, Republicans could cite a higher poverty rate as evidence.

Democrats almost certainly will argue that they shouldn’t be blamed. They’re likely to counter that the economic woes — and the poverty increase — began under President George W. Bush with the near-collapse of the financial industry in late 2008.

You know, we are SICK of the BACKWARDS FINGER-POINTING!

It is YOUR SHOW NOW and HAS BEEN for TWO YEARS!!

Although that’s true, it’s far from certain that the Democratic explanation will sway voters who already are trending heavily toward the GOP in polls as worrisome economic news piles up.

Translation: the Democrats blew it.
