Congress Chooses to Bully China For Campaign Purposes

WASHINGTON — Congress is pressuring the Obama administration to take a tougher stand with China over trade practices that they say have cost Americans millions of jobs.

Yeah, NEVER MIND the POLICIES of THIS GOVERNMENT -- like TAX BREAKS to MOVE OVERSEAS!

Of course, the Chinese MADE those U.S. MANUFACTURERS take their factories over there, right?

Democrats and Republicans on committees in the Senate and House told Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner yesterday that China is manipulating its currency.

Isn't that what the Federal Reserve does?

They said that and other practices have led to a huge trade gap between the two countries and job losses in the United States....

How much campaign cash was kicked back to you guys for signing on to all this?

I mean, the politicians are still living good at the expense of the decimated American taxpayer.

Instead, the White House took the same position as previous administrations in simply urging China to move faster to allow its currency to rise in value against the dollar.

It's George Bush's third term.

American manufacturers contend that the Chinese currency is undervalued by as much as 40 percent.

That has given Chinese companies a tremendous competitive advantage — making US products more expensive in China and Chinese goods cheaper in the United States....

Yeah, can you imagine what will happen to American wallets if the Chinese pull out and the prices on all the cheap Wal-Mart crap and other items we see all around us start rising in cost?

Yeah, you Congress pukes better be careful or you will kill this economy.

"House OK’s currency manipulation bill" by Martin Crutsinger, Associated Press  |  September 30, 2010

WASHINGTON — The House has approved legislation that would allow the United States to seek trade sanctions against China and other nations for manipulating their currency to gain trade advantages.

Yet Israel kills an American citizen on the high seas and gets sent more tax loot. Unreal.

The 348-to-79 vote yesterday sends the measure to the Senate, where its prospects are unclear.

Translation: It's dead.

This is ALL for POLITICAL POSTURING PURPOSES!!!

Senate supporters hope to get a vote on a similar proposal after Congress returns following the November congressional elections.

Oh, right, AFTER the elections during a LAME-DUCK SESSION, huh?

How much s*** is going to get shoved up your a** after you reject Democrats this fall, America?

This bull-oney the SAME as the SUPERFICIAL and FAKE TAX CUT DEBATE and the Middle East peace talks!

It's ALL AGENDA-PUSHING GARBAGE, folks!!

Supporters said the bill would allow the Obama administration to pressure China on an issue that they say has led to the loss of more than 2 million manufacturing jobs in the United States over the past decade.

Why are they blaming China for that?

Did they force American companies over there at gunpoint?

The vote came as lawmakers scrambled to wrap up unfinished business so they can hit the campaign trail with a little over a month before the Nov. 2 elections.

The measure was passed by a wide margin with 99 Republicans joining Democrats to vote yes.
Those in opposition included 74 Republicans and five Democrats.

Supporters said the size of the vote should send a strong message to Beijing that Washington will not tolerate currency manipulation and other trade practices viewed as unfair to American workers.

Yeah, this stuff always comes up about every two years around election time no matter who is running the House.

And it looks like we are heading for war because I heard Thom Hartmann sounding the call on the radio the other day:

"No resolution on currency dispute

Global finance leaders failed yesterday to resolve deep differences that threaten the outbreak of a full-blown currency war.

Which eventually -- if my history lessons are any guide at all -- leads to a FULL-BLOWN SHOOTING WAR!

Various nations are seeking to devalue their currencies as a way to boost exports and jobs. The concern is that such efforts could trigger a repeat of the trade wars that contributed to the Great Depression, as country after country raises protectionist barriers to imported goods.

Actually, we are in the GRAND DEPRESSION right now -- as history will record, for I AM HISTORY (and I have the worthless degree packed in a box somewhere to prove it!).

The International Monetary Fund wrapped up two days of talks with a communique that pledged to deepen its work in the area of currency movements, including conducting studies on the issue.

The IMF is the world's conglomeration of central bankers -- you know, the lovely crowd that brings you world wars and clean$ up on debt.

With help from their puppets, of course:

"In ads, candidates take aim at China" by David W. Chen, New York Times  |  October 10, 2010

NEW YORK — With many Americans seized by anxiety about the country’s economic decline, candidates from both political parties have suddenly found a new villain to run against: China.

Yeah, forget about the wasteful wars and the tax loot to war-criminal Israel.

From the marquee battle between Senator Barbara Boxer and Carly Fiorina in California to the House contests in rural New York, Democrats and Republicans are blaming one another for allowing the export of American jobs to its emerging economic rival.

In the past week alone, at least 29 candidates have unleashed new ads suggesting that their opponents have been too sympathetic to China and, as a result, Americans have suffered.

Well, ISRAEL KILLED ONE and this Congress ISSUED a STATEMENT of SUPPORT!!

The ads are striking not only in their volume but also in their pointed language and unsubtle use of imagery.

But it is okay to beat on the Chinese or Muslims with racist ads, etc. If it were blacks, Jews, or immigrants the agenda-pushing media would be hollering anti-semitism and racism. The jig is up, AmeriKan media and political scum. All incumbents out except those that stand against Israel. When you find one let me know.

One ad for an Ohio representative, Zack Space, accuses his Republican opponent, Bob Gibbs, of supporting free-trade policies that sent Ohioans’ jobs to China. As a giant dragon appears on the screen, the narrator sarcastically thanks the Republican: “As they say in China, xie xie Mr. Gibbs!’’

Oh, DEMOCRATS fight DIRTY, too?

My Boston Globe makes it seem like only Repuglicans do that!

In an ad featuring traditional Chinese music and a photo of Chairman Mao, Spike Maynard, a Republican challenger in West Virginia, charges that Representative Nick J. Rahall II supported a bill creating wind-turbine technology jobs in China.

Yeah, the millions in losses didn't hurt the CEO paychecks any -- and the state still doled out tax loot to them!!

The barrage of ads, expected to total in the tens of millions of dollars, is occurring as politicians are struggling to address voters’ most pressing and stubborn concern: the lack of jobs.

How many foreclosures would all that political spending have prevented?

And I will be glad when election season is over.  Nothing more irritating than campaign commercials on television.

“China is a really easy scapegoat,’’ said Erika Franklin Fowler, a political science professor at Wesleyan University who is director of the Wesleyan Media Project, which tracks political advertising.

Polls show that not only are Americans increasingly worried that the United States will have a lesser role in the years ahead; they are more and more convinced that China will dominate....

But we are NOT WILLING to go to WAR over it, 'kay?!!

The attacks are occurring as trade tensions continue and the United States is pressuring the Chinese government to allow its currency to rise in value.

And here I was told tensions were easing.

They have SOME NERVE asking, huh?

The ads are so vivid and pervasive that some worry they will increase hostility toward the Chinese and complicate the relationship between the two countries.

Then the agenda-pushing corporate media can scold Americans for being racist!

What a great gig the s*** AmeriKan media and government have going, huh?

Democratic leaders say party polling suggests that voters strongly favor eliminating tax breaks for companies that do business in China.

Ummmm, WHY WERE THEY GETTING THEM in the FIRST PLACE -- and WHY is this JUST an AFTERTHOUGHT to the CORPORATE MEDIA, huh?
