Occupation Iraq: Criminal Reporting

All in a single sentence.

"Violence has dropped in Iraq, but criminal activity has been on the rise"

They have never stopped lying to you about Iraq, America.

"At least 36 die in three car bombings in Iraq; Blasts are worst since US ended its combat role" by Sinan Salaheddin, Associated Press  |  September 20, 2010

BAGHDAD — Three car bombs tore through Baghdad and the former insurgent stronghold of Fallujah yesterday, killing at least 36 people. The blasts in the capital were so powerful they sheared the sides off buildings and left chunks of rubble on the streets.

The violence broke a period of relative calm since the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. It was the worst to strike Iraq since the number of American troops in the country dropped below 50,000 and the United States declared a formal end to combat operations.

It also underlines the challenges Iraq’s police and military face as they assume responsibility for security.

The deadliest attack yesterday took place in north Baghdad’s Kazimiyah neighborhood when a car bomb detonated near a branch office of the National Security Ministry in Adan Square, killing at least 21 people and wounding more than 70, police and hospital officials said.

“It was a big explosion, and dust and smoke filled my house,’’ said Abu Shahad, who lives about 200 yards from the blast site.

“I went out and saw a big black cloud hanging over the area where the bomb exploded, and I rushed there because I have relatives living there.’’

He said his cousin and her child were killed and another cousin was wounded in the blast.

At least 10 people were killed in another car bombing in western Baghdad’s affluent Mansour neighborhood, said Army Brigadier General Ali Fadhal, who is responsible for the western half of the city. Ten people were wounded in the attack.

Fadhal said security officials were investigating whether the blast was the work of a suicide attacker in a car targeting a crowded commercial area near an AsiaCell store, one of Iraq’s biggest mobile phone providers.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks.

The blast sheered off large sections of the concrete walls from the surrounding buildings, and debris was strewn in the street. Dozens of Iraqi Army and police officers cordoned off the area, keeping journalists away....

Who is Bombing in Iraq? Are the bombers Al-Qaeda, the CIA or Israel?

Yeah, "journalists" stay away from that, too.

Instead we get this kind of garbage from the people who blared lies in headlines:

"Bond of loss brings together Iraqi women and mothers of fallen US soldiers" by Associated Press  |  September 27, 2010

SULAIMANIYAH, Iraq — Nine American mothers whose children died fighting in Iraq were embraced yesterday by dozens of Iraqi women who lost children during decades of war and violence in a meeting that participants said brought them a measure of peace....

While the mothers met in northern Iraq, other parts of the country were hit by violence as insurgents attempted to regain lost footholds near Baghdad and continued to pursue an ongoing campaign against public servants in an effort to undermine government institutions.

Yeah, who would want to rob banks, huh?

BAGHDAD — Gunmen using pistols fitted with silencers stormed a money exchange office in central Baghdad yesterday, killing five people and wounding three in a brazen afternoon robbery, police officials said.

The HALLMARK of MOSSAD!

The heist came just hours after attackers wearing military uniforms raided the homes of several Sunni fighters opposed to Al Qaeda, killing four men before dawn in an execution-style slaying.

Violence has dropped in Iraq, but criminal activity has been on the rise, with a spate of brash daylight robberies of banks, jewelers, and financial institutions across the country this year. Many of the heists have been blamed on insurgents, who are said to be short on cash and seeking ways to fund their operations.

Insurgents also frequently target security forces and their allies to undermine confidence in the country’s Shi’ite-dominated leadership....

I'm SICK of the WAR PROPAGANDA, folks.

SORRY, but it is ALL LIES!!

No one claimed responsibility for the heist but such declarations for robberies of smaller financial offices and jewelers’ stores are rare. An Al Qaeda front group in Iraq had said it was behind June strikes on the Central Bank, the nation’s treasury, and the Trade Bank of Iraq, attacks that had claimed dozens of lives.

Please tell me they STOLE MONEY THIS TIME and did not just BURN DOCUMENT(?)!!!!

In yesterday’s predawn attack, gunmen raided the houses of several members of the government-backed groups known as Awakening Councils near the town of Youssifiyah, 12 miles south of Baghdad, dragged the men out of their houses, and sprayed them with bullets....

The councils were a key element to reducing violence in Iraq in the past two years but their future role in the security network remains uncertain as political rivals battle for posts in the new government seven months after an inconclusive election.

Also yesterday, in Baghdad’s eastern neighborhood of al-Ghadeer, a roadside bomb struck a car of a senior Iraqi official, wounding him and two bystanders and killing his driver....

All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.
The violence came as Iraqi politicians continue bickering over the formation of a new government....

"Shi’ite leader accuses Iran of fomenting unrest in Iraq; Raps rivals for overtures to Tehran; On trip, Maliki to solicit support" by Lara Jakes, Associated Press  |  October 18, 2010

BAGHDAD — In other developments, a brazen midday robbery of three jewelry stores and at least four bombings in Baghdad left nine Iraqis dead and 13 injured in a fresh round of brutal crime that has swept the Iraqi capital over the past year as political violence has ebbed.

Two carloads of armed attackers stormed the jewelry stores in the mostly Sunni Mansour neighborhood. They killed the three owners, then scooped up as much jewelry as they could before soldiers and police opened fire on them. Two police officers and two gunmen were killed in the firefight and five gunmen escaped with jewelry.

Iraqi authorities have frequently blamed insurgents for the devastation, saying they have turned to crime to raise money for other types of attacks....

Whatever, "newspaper."
