"Leyden man killed in motorcycle crash

Police say a 58-year-old man died after losing control of his motorcycle in Northampton. Police and firefighters arrived at Westhampton Road at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday following reports of a crash. The victim, identified as Roland Morrow of Leyden, was pronounced dead at the scene. Morrow was riding alone, and a motorist behind him reported the accident (AP)."

"Community farm set for city parcel

A Northampton nonprofit has approved what it calls a milestone deal to create a 117-acre community farm in the city. The agreement gives Grow Food Northampton the opportunity to buy the land from the Trust for Public Land. Plans call for the trust to sell 117 acres to a farmer or farming organization after it has been permanently protected as farmland. If Grow Food can successfully raise $670,500 to buy the land by the end of January, it would lease it to farmers who would produce food and raise livestock. The organization so far has $210,000 in pledges, grants, and donations."
