Fallout From Fukushima

All political, according to my paper:

"Japan’s leader faulted for crisis response; Prime minister’s ratings plunge in poll; adviser quits" by Yuri Kageyama, Associated Press / May 1, 2011

TOKYO — Criticism of the Japanese government’s handling of the crisis at a radiation-spewing nuclear power plant increased yesterday, with a new poll indicating three-quarters of the people disapprove and a key adviser quitting in protest

And it is still spewing and leaking as I type.

A Kyodo News service poll released yesterday showed that Prime Minister Naoto Kan’s support ratings were plunging....

Toshiso Kosako, a professor at the University of Tokyo’s graduate school and a specialist in radiation exposure, announced late Friday in a tearful news conference that he was stepping down as a government adviser, [saying] he could not stay and allow the government to set what he called improper radiation limits of 20 millisieverts a year for elementary schools in areas near the plant.

“I cannot allow this as a scholar,’’ he said....

Kosako also criticized the government as lacking in transparency in disclosing radiation levels around the plant, and as improperly raising the limit for radiation exposure for workers at Fukushima Daiichi, Kyodo reported.

Hey, AmeriKa's government did the same and nobody quit in protest!!

A government advisory position is highly respected in Japan, and it is extremely rare for an academic to resign to protest government policy....

Then it REALLY MUST BE from a DEEP CONVICTION to the TRUTH!

About 1,000 antinuclear protesters gathered yesterday in Tokyo’s Yoyogi Park, beating drums, shouting “No more nukes.’’

Oh, yeah, that's the THIRD FALLOUT: The NUCLEAR POWER INDUSTRY is now DEAD!

Time to PLOW THOSE BILLIONS into WIND, SOLAR, or ANYTHING OTHER than NUCLEAR!

It's not a question of earthquakes or tsunamis; it's a question of cooling system failures (for whatever reason) and GE design!

Related: Forget About Fukushima

I can't when I know radiation is in the air, water, and soil.

Also see:

"Overall, the quake and tsunami is believed to have killed nearly 26,000 people, though only about 14,500 bodies have been found. It is likely that many were swept out to sea and will never be found....

Time for me to roam, readers.
