Camping Out in Vermont

Good night, readers. I'm just going to sit by the fire until I fall asleep.

"‘Sleep-out’ raises $150,000 for homeless teens

Efforts to help homeless teenagers are getting a big boost in Vermont’s largest city thanks to the 90 people who slept outside in a church yard, raising $150,000. The second annual Spectrum Youth & Family Services ‘‘Sleep Out’’ on Thursday night raised the money to help fund programs that shelter homeless teenagers and move them toward productive lives. The Burlington Free Press reported temperatures dipped below 40 degrees and participants felt the cold, heard the noise, and experienced in a small way the vulnerability of being without a proper roof. The event was held on the lawn of the First Universalist Society church, across the street from Spectrum’s teen shelter (AP)."

What a scandal. Homelessness in AmeriKa in the face of massive foreclosure fraud and empty houses while banks are booming in the golden age of corporate profits.
