"Traffic stop leads to drug, gun arrests for two Worcester men" by Todd Feathers | Globe Correspondent, June 10, 2013
State troopers say they found drugs and a loaded handgun in the car of two Worcester men arrested early Monday after they failed to stop for a red light.
State Police stopped Josue Ocasio, 30, and Juan Mercado-Concepci, 23, around 2:45 a.m. after their Toyota RAV4 drove through a red light on Quinsigamond Avenue in Worcester, police said.
Ocasio, who was driving, did not have a valid driver’s license, police said.
Troopers allegedly saw a bottle of prescription pills with the label torn off in the passenger-side door. A search revealed a hidden compartment in the center console containing a loaded 9mm handgun and several bags of a whitish-brown powder, State Police said.
The two men were to be arraigned Monday in Worcester District Court on multiple drug and gun charges. Ocasio is also charged with operating a vehicle without a license and failure to stop for a red light, police said.
