Nagging You About Nannies

"Middlesex judge weighs whether to grant bail to Irish nanny

A Middlesex Superior Court judge said she would decide Wednesday whether to grant bail to an Irish nanny accused of killing a 1-year-old Cambridge girl in her care almost a year ago. Judge S. Jane Haggerty said Tuesday she would also rule by the end of the week on whether to dismiss first-degree murder charges against Aisling Brady McCarthy, a 35-year-old immigrant here illegally. McCarthy was arrested in January and accused of inflicting serious injuries on Rehma Sabir at the child’s home near Harvard Square. The child became unconscious Jan. 14, her first birthday, and died two days later. Prosecutors have said she suffered massive bleeding in the brain and other injuries consistent with being violently shaken. McCarthy was indicted on first-degree murder charges in April and has been held without bail since then."
