"Would-be hijacker captured after trying to divert to Sochi" by Suzan Fraser | Associated Press, February 08, 2014
ANKARA, Turkey — A Ukrainian man tried to hijack a Turkey-bound flight to Sochi, Russia, as the Winter Olympics were kicking off Friday, but the pilot tricked him and landed in Istanbul instead, where he was stealthily detained after a four-hour standoff on a plane full of passengers, an official said.
The drama came as the Winter Olympics opened in the Russian resort city, with thousands of athletes from around the world pouring into the tightly secured stadium amid warnings that the games could be a terrorism target.
And it stole the spotlight from the Opening Ceremonies!
A Turkish F-16 fighter was scrambled as soon as the pilot on the Pegasus Airlines flight from Kharkiv, Ukraine, with 110 passengers aboard, signaled there was a hijacking attempt, according to NTV television. It escorted the plane safely to its original destination at Sabiha Gokcen airport in Istanbul.
Is this story even real or just another psyop concoction?
Officials credited the pilot and crew for convincing the 45-year-old-man, who claimed he had a bomb, that they were following his wishes....
If you were going to blow up the plane WHY ANNOUNCE IT to EVERYONE? Not even the phantom patsies of 9/11 did that!
Next thing you know the "terrorists" will be using hang gliders!
Istanbul governor Huseyin Avni Mutlu told reporters at the airport the suspected hijacker was arrested after a negotiator persuaded him to first allow women and children to be evacuated and later agreed to let all other passengers off the plane as well.
‘‘Our security units sneaked through various entrances during the evacuation of the passengers and with a quick and effective intervention the hijacker was subdued,’’ Mutlu said. No bomb was found, he said.
What?
The man’s motive was unclear, but Mutlu said he had ‘‘requests concerning his own country’’ and wanted to relay a ‘‘message concerning sporting activities in Sochi.’’ Mutlu said there was no immediate indication that the man was a member of any terrorist organization and his identity was not released....
OMG!
Did this even happen at all?
The Interfax news agency cited the Ukrainian Security Service, the country’s main security agency, as saying the passenger was in a state of severe alcohol intoxication.
Oh, he was drunk?!
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Mutlu said the man was not drunk, but said he may have taken substances to help him remain alert. He did not elaborate.
There is a marked difference between the two, so WTF?!!!!
Habib Soluk, the Turkish Transport Ministry undersecretary, told NTV earlier that the man rose from his seat, shouted that there was bomb on board, and tried to enter the locked cockpit....
This is looking more and mo0re like a staged and scripted psyop hoax, and we have seen far too many of them lately.
The plane landed at about 6 p.m. Turkish time, just as the opening ceremony for the Olympics was about to begin.
What timing!
The executive creative director of the Olympics opening ceremony told reporters afterward that he had heard of the threat but didn’t alter the show’s plans in any way....
Gotta trust the Turks on that one!
With about 100,000 police, security agents, and army troops flooding Sochi, Russia has pledged to ensure ‘‘the safest Olympics in history.’’ But terror fears fueled by recent suicide bombings have left athletes, spectators, and officials worldwide jittery about potential threats.
Olympic organizers introduced blanket screening of all visitors, requiring them to share passport details to get a Winter Games spectator pass. Officials also cut access to vehicles lacking Sochi registration or a special pass, and guards were searching all train commuters.
Now the security is all good!

Oh, we are watching that, too:
"US insists on Ukraine reforms; Aid won’t come without changes, diplomat says" by Jim Heintz | Associated Press, February 08, 2014
KIEV — Washington is willing to consider financial aid to Ukraine as the country struggles through a polarizing political crisis, but only if it undertakes political and economic reforms, a top US diplomat said Friday.
The comment by Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland comes after the opposition leaders behind more than two months of protests suggested that Ukraine needs aid akin to the Marshall Plan, the US program that propped up European nations after World War II to encourage political stability.
Yeah, she had some real strong words to say that for some reason needed to be censored by my Globe.
Did anyone mention the austerity-strapped American taxpayers and the service cuts they are receiving as they talk about a Marshall plan for the Ukraine?
Nuland spoke to reporters at the end of a two-day visit that included separate meetings with President Viktor Yanukovych and leaders of the protests seeking his resignation.
Did she use any swear words this time?
‘‘Nobody is willing to give economic support, from the United States or from the IMF or from Europe, to an unreformed Ukraine,’’ Nuland said.
More New World Order imposition of economic $hit is all this is.
Meanwhile, a Russian government aide who was among the first to post a video online containing a bugged phone call between Nuland and the US ambassador to Ukraine denied Friday that he or the government played a role in leaking the recording.
Dmitry Loskutov, an aide to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, said he was surfing a social networking website Thursday when he came across the video, in which Nuland disparages the European Union’s efforts in Ukraine.
Loskutov posted a link on Twitter which he said proved that another anonymous user had posted the video Wednesday, the day before he did.
And that is enough attention to that, according to my newspaper.
They really look out for each other, don't they?
Ukraine’s faltering economy is a key issue in the crisis.
And the Ukrainian people think joining the EU will help? When banker-imposed governments are doing everything they can to keep their people in line and their country in it? Ask Greeks how the whole thing worked out.
Huge protests began when Yanukovych shelved an agreement to deepen ties with the 28-nation European Union in favor of getting a $15 billion loan from Russia. Many Ukrainians resent the long shadow Russia has cast over Ukraine.
There are historical grievances, the greets being the Jewish-Bolshevik Holocaust against the Ukrainians.
The protesters quickly expanded their grievances to calls for Yanukovych’s resignation and the denunciation of police violence after the brutal dispersal of some early peaceful rallies. The demonstrations erupted into clashes last month after Yanukovych approved harsh laws against protesters. At least three protesters died in the clashes.
The antiprotest laws were repealed, but protesters remain in a sprawling tent camp in downtown Kiev.
Don't you wish the agenda-pushing, propaganda pre$$ had been so sympathetic, Occupy Wall Streeter?
Yanukovych backed off the long-anticipated agreement with the EU because of concerns that the bloc was not offering a sufficient cushion for trade that presumably would be lost with Russia, which wants Ukraine to join a Moscow-led trade alliance.
That's what this is all about.
Opponents say that effectively aims to reconstitute the defunct Soviet Union in a group dominated by President Vladimir Putin of Russia.
Are you scared yet, Amurkn?
Ukraine’s economic troubles include its reliance on energy-inefficient heavy industries and its policy of selling gas to households at about one-fifth the price it pays Russia for the imports.
They get gas subsidies and yet the public hates the government?
This is another controlled-opposition crap protest, folks! A CIA coup attempt!
The International Monetary Fund in 2012 denied Ukraine an aid package because Yanukovych was unwilling to implement economic reforms and austerity measures that could have undermined his support.
What an amazing paragraph!
Yanukovych didn't want to bow before the New World Order and destroy his country so he must be dispatched in the way of Morsi or Khadafy.

Another perspective on the Olympics:
"Sochi
The lead in to the Winter Olympics in Sochi has been the biggest bash fest of Russia since the 1980 boycott of the summer games in Moscow. Remember that? It was supposedly due to Russia's invasion of Afghanistan. It's ironic in hindsight and we all know why.
Between the Western promotion of a gay agenda and Putin's laws banning propagandizing little kids into having to deal with 'alternative' lifestyles before they're ready and the chatterbox of the threats of checkbook terrorism in Russia, the games themselves never got the early on full spotlight
On cue today we have had what may be a psyuos, an attempted hijacking of a plane that its reported objective was to land in Sochi and disrupt the games. How convenient that the plane made it to NATO ally Turkey where the story will be spun to the benefit of those who kept saying "We told you so."
Just the other night Amnesty International had its first concert for 'human rights in 16 years and focused on Russia for its bad, bad record of right's abuse . Featuring Kabbalah girl Madonna and her new hooligan friends, two paid provocateurs of Pu$$y Riot, it was a hypocritical diversion. I don't think there was a mention of US atrocities and their own industrial prison system or mercenaries bought by Saudi Arabia, and others to destroy Syria. Certainly nothing about human rights violations by Israel against Palestinians. Roger Waters did not get an invite.
Say what you will but the terrorism fearmongering and concerted effort to demonize Russia have worked to keep the crowds away. Attendance will not be to capacity and mainly Russian spectators.
Once again we in the occupied west need Russia as the most formidable enemy.Whether or not we ever go to world war 3 with them, it's still a big money maker and a great distraction for all the chaos we inflict elsewhere. Putin is portrayed as the second coming of Stalin...or is that Hitler? The 1936 Olympics reincarnated.
It' a tangled web of deceit. There are many pawns in this game. Not the least of which is us as we watch the athletes as artists, commercialized, propagandized and politicized for purposes way beyond simple games and competition.

Haven't seen Filipov in a few days. His room lose power or something?
I'm covering the games (and points beyond), and even watched some this morning while I had breakfast and read my Globe. Man, that male Russian figure skater (gay?) was awesome! And I don't even like the "sport!" Then I watched some Polish speed skater (not without some ethnic pride, I might add) come within 5 seconds of his best time ever -- and how he stayed up so effortlessly was a moment of awe and fascination for me. The only downer was the rows and rows of empty seats.
Also see:
You hung up on those, readers.
Now if you will excuse me, it's time for me to fly (what an appropriate song considering my current relationship with the Boston Globe. I'm tired of holding on to a feeling I know is gone,
I do believe that I've had enough!). I want to go see some more Olympic coverage right now. Screw blogging about and reading the Boston Globe (and this was supposed to be a big blog day, sob) for today. I mean, I might be back, but then again, I more than likely might not.
