It sometimes seems to me that the Globe wants us all to go back to the 1950s, what with their selective coverage of events in our world.
"GEORGIA ABORTION FACEOFF -- State Senator Valencia Seay of Georgia gestured toward her colleague Senator Judson Hill after she argued against an abortion bill sponsored by Hill on the floor Monday in Atlanta. The Georgia Senate voted, 35 to 18, to approve the bill, which restricts abortion coverage in plans available through the state health insurance exchange. The bill now heads to the House for consideration. Democrats opposed the bill, calling it a continuation of the "war on women" and saying it infringes on a woman's right to choose (Boston Globe March 4, 2014)."
The gesture is her fists balled up in a boxing stance with stink face at him. Race is also a prominent factor in the printed photograph you will not see on the website (and yet sometimes I get articles that are not in print. How odd.) Any other agenda I can throw in there?
And never mind the philandering Democrats like Clinton and Filner. Sexual harassment and rape is not war on women.
"Life sentence in sex trafficking case" by RUSS BYNUM | Associated Press, February 20, 2014
SAVANNAH, Ga. — A man convicted of acting as a pimp for women forced into prostitution was sentenced to life in federal prison Wednesday for his role in what prosecutors called a sex trafficking ring that traded women like slaves between Georgia, Florida, and the Carolinas.
I'm just wondering what one gets for pimping them for the rich and powerful.
Joaquin Mendez-Hernandez, a Mexican national who operated out of Savannah, was a key figure among 25 defendants indicted in the case last year. A US District Court judge sentenced him five months after he pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiring with others to engage in sex trafficking.
Prosecutors said Mendez-Hernandez and his partners would bring women into the United States from Mexico and other countries and force them to have sex with 30 or more men each day for $25 apiece. They built a network that largely catered to Latino immigrants.
That's not what the Land of Opportunity brochure said.
‘‘They enslaved women, they demeaned them, and they dehumanized them,’’ Tania Groover, the lead federal prosecutor in the case, told the judge during a sentencing hearing Wednesday.
‘‘I didn’t force anybody. I didn’t hurt anybody,’’ Mendez-Hernandez told the judge. ‘‘I beg forgiveness to all the women who worked for me.’’

US Rep. Kingston criticized for school lunch
Except that story is not at the link. It has literally been swept away by the Globe.
"U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston is defending comments he made suggesting that poor students who are part of the nation’s school lunch program should sweep cafeteria floors. Kingston told the crowd that making children do janitorial work would help them learn that there’s “no such thing as a free lunch.” The Savannah Republican is campaigning to become his party’s nominee for the U.S. Senate seat of Saxby Chambliss, who has announced his retirement. Kingston spokesman Chris Crawford said in a statement to WXIA-TV that it’s sad that trying to have a “productive conversation” about instilling a strong work ethic in the next generation “so quickly devolves into the usual name calling partisan hysteria.”
Yeah, no free lunch unless you are Israel, a war-profiteer, a Wall Street bank, or a political puppet. Now grab a broom, kid!
Folks, the ELITE ARROGANCE is GAGGING!

"Ole Miss fraternity suspended over noose" Associated Press, February 22, 2014
OXFORD, Miss. — A fraternity chapter at Ole Miss has been indefinitely suspended by its national organization and three of its freshman members were kicked out because of their alleged involvement in hanging a noose on a statue of James Meredith, who was the first black student to enroll in the then all-white university in 1962.
In a written statement Friday, Sigma Phi Epsilon said it suspended the Alpha Chapter at the University of Mississippi, and the chapter voted to expel all three men and turn over their identities to investigators.
Police on Sunday found a noose tied around the neck of the statue, along with an old Georgia flag with a Confederate battle emblem in its design.

The FBI said Friday it planned to expand the investigation for potential violations of federal law.
The University of Mississippi said Friday that it wanted to question three white students in connection with the vandalism of the statue of Meredith.
But lawyers for the three students were not allowing them to be questioned without arrest warrants.

"Man abducts boys, slashes one’s throat in Miss." by Holbrook Mohr | Associated Press, December 20, 2013
JACKSON, Miss. — A man lured two brothers, ages 5 and 8, from their yard in south Mississippi and took them to his camper trailer, where he sexually abused them and slashed the older boy’s throat, authorities said Thursday.
The 8-year-old is hospitalized and is expected to survive the Wednesday attack, said Don Bass, chief deputy with Hancock County sheriff’s office. Bass said the older brother, with his throat cut, escaped the suspect’s trailer Wednesday evening and ran about 500 yards to a neighbor’s house. The neighbor called police.
Bass identified the suspect as James H. Smith, 41. Smith was released from prison to house arrest in June after serving a few months of a lengthy sentence in a racketeering case involving methamphetamine and assaulting a police officer, according to corrections officials and court records.
They are LETTING THESE GUYS OUT ON PURPOSE, aren't they?

Shane Tucker, chief deputy with Pearl River County sheriff’s department, said Smith is a cousin of the boys’ father’s live-in girlfriend. He said Smith had not been around the boys much, but was familiar with them, and lured them while they played in the yard.
After the older child escaped Smith’s trailer, Bass said Smith grabbed the younger boy, put him in a car and was trying to get away when Hancock County sheriff’s deputy Tommy Bethea spotted them and blocked the car’s path. The suspect jumped out of his car and Bethea was able to rescue the 5-year-old, Bass said.
Authorities said the older boy’s escape and the information provided by his brother were instrumental in their survival. ‘‘Those boys did an amazing job,’’ Tucker said.
Meaning the police aren't preventing shit, are they?

"Police in a North Carolina town are searching for a man who sprayed a church playground with gunfire shortly before 6 p.m. Monday as about two dozen neighborhood teens played basketball.
In this weather?
Witnesses could provide only a vague description of the shooter, who ran away and was seen getting into a small, light-colored SUV. It was the latest shooting in a small Southern city dealing with violent crime on a scale typical in more urban areas. The shooting at the church happened days after a funeral for 15-year-old Brian Freeman, who was walking home with a friend when a car pulled up and someone started firing. Rocky Mount sits along Interstate 95 — a primary north-south corridor for moving drugs and illegal guns between major East Coast cities."

MONROE, N.C. — A North Carolina couple, including a county social worker, are facing child abuse charges after a foster child in their care was found cuffed by the ankle to their front porch with a dead chicken hanging from around his neck.
Looks like the North Carolina'sDCF is as bad as Massachusetts DCF.

"6 people shot dead in S.C. domestic dispute" by Mitch Weiss | Associated Press, October 31, 2013
GREENWOOD, S.C. — A South Carolina man in a custody dispute with a onetime girlfriend broke into her parents’ home and fatally shot the woman, her parents, and two children, the sheriff said. The man then killed himself....
Greenwood County Sheriff Tony Davis identified the man who fired the shots as 27-year-old Bryan Sweatt. Davis said Sweatt felt that the woman he had dated wasn’t allowing him to see their infant child often enough. The infant was not among the dead.
Investigators believe Sweatt broke into the home and waited for the victims to return, Davis said, adding that the shootings looked like executions....
SWAT team members who entered the house found the bodies in three rooms.
‘‘Once you see a grisly scene like this it never leaves you,’’ Davis said.
Sweatt has a lengthy arrest record that dates back nearly a decade, according to State Police records. Most of his charges were related to property crimes, although he was arrested once on aggravated assault charges....

"Gamer sentenced to life in Fla. killing" by Melissa Nelson-Gabriel | Associated Press, February 14, 2014
PENSACOLA, Fla. — A fantasy game enthusiast was sentenced to life in prison Thursday for beating a former Pensacola newspaper reporter to death with a hammer and burying his body in a concrete-covered pit in Georgia.
Why waste the energy on the pathetic pieces of propaganda purveyors?
William Cormier III was so desperate for money that he killed Sean Dugas in the fall of 2012 so he could steal his $100,000 collection of fantasy role-playing cards, prosecutors said.
I think it has become clear that the whole whoreporate media narrative and glorification of wealth has put this society over the top.
Jurors convicted Cormier of first-degree murder after a little more than an hour of deliberations. Dugas’s parents broke down in sobs as the verdict was read. His mother clutched a picture of her son.
Prosecutor Bridgette Jensen said in closing arguments that Cormier III used profits from selling the cards to pay for the plastic storage container that became Dugas’s coffin.

"Storms cause concern from coast to coast; Ice, snow create havoc at airports" by Brett Songker | Associated Press, March 03, 2014
WASHINGTON — A round of wintry precipitation moved across much of the nation Sunday, bringing a mix of freezing rain and heavy snow to central and eastern states. Authorities warned that power outages and flight disruptions from the harsh weather could affect millions.
The winter storm was expected to dump up to a foot of snow on parts of the East Coast on Monday.
Forecasters said a layer of ice and 8 to 12 inches of snow were possible by the end of Monday in Washington and the Mid-Atlantic region. Nearly a foot of snow was expected in parts of New Jersey and about 6 to 8 inches across parts of southern Pennsylvania.
More than 6 inches in Philadelphia would make it the city’s second snowiest winter, surpassing 65.5 inches that fell in 1995-96.
The storm was expected to largely miss Massachusetts....
It did, thankfully.

"More snow, cold, and wind snarl US roads, air traffic" Associated Press, March 04, 2014
WASHINGTON — Winter kept its icy hold on much of the country Monday, with snow falling and temperatures dropping. Schools and offices closed, and people from the South and Mid-Atlantic to Northeast reluctantly waited out another storm indoors.
Snow and freezing rain were forecast from Baltimore to Washington, causing headaches for the region. Forecasters say temperatures are expected to dip into the single digits in much of the region early Tuesday morning
In New Jersey nearly 6 inches of snow fell in some areas. That could make it the state’s eighth snowiest winter in the last 120 years.
Snow covered a layer of ice in the nation’s capital Monday, and a blustery wind stung the faces of those who ventured outside. Officials still warned people to stay off treacherous roads — a refrain that has become familiar to residents in the Midwest, East, and even Deep South this year.
The governors of Virginia and Tennessee declared states of emergency as snow threatened to make a mess of roads. In Tennessee, more than 61,000 customers were without power Monday.
Virginia State Police troopers responded to more than 300 traffic accidents across the state between 12:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Monday, with about half occurring in the Richmond area. About 600 customers were without power, according to Dominion Virginia Power.
In North Carolina, northeastern counties were expecting up to 2 inches of snow.
More than 2,700 flights in the United States were canceled as of Monday afternoon, according to flight tracking site FlightAware.com. The bulk of the problems were at airports in Washington, New York and Philadelphia, but ‘‘flight cancellations are stacking up all the way from the D.C. area on up to New England,’’ said Daniel Baker of FlightAware.

"Cold, gray day doesn’t stop Mardi Gras revelers; In New Orleans, some swap costumes for coats" by Stacey Plaisance and Chevel Johnson | Associated Press, March 05, 2014
NEW ORLEANS — Revelers endured winter temperatures and a chilling rain along parade routes Tuesday as New Orleans’ 2014 Carnival season neared a close.
Die-hards, some in Mardi Gras costumes, braved the weather along the traditional St. Charles Avenue parade route and in the French Quarter.
‘‘We’ll drink, drink, drink, until it gets drier,’’ said Dean Cook of New Orleans as he walked Bourbon Street dressed as a pirate with vampire fangs.
‘‘Mermaids love the water,’’ he said of his wife, Terrina Cook, who was dressed in a shiny blue mermaid costume, complete with a fin....
Temperatures for most of the day in the New Orleans area were in the lower 40s and by early evening were at about 38 degrees. The wind chill made it feel even colder....
In some places sleet was falling and ‘‘it’s awful cold,’’ but the partiers were determined to make it a happy Mardi Gras no matter what.

"D.C. cherry blossoms predicted to bloom April 8-12" by Brett Zongker | Associated Press, March 05, 2014
WASHINGTON — Despite the long, snowy winter, Washington’s famous cherry blossom trees are expected to bring the first sure sign of spring between April 8-12, when they are predicted to reach peak bloom, the National Park Service said Tuesday.
The weather in March will be the most critical factor for the trees’ blooming period, said James Perry of the National Park Service.
‘‘Relax and let Mother Nature take her course,’’ he said. ‘‘This has not been the coldest winter on record or the snowiest. These trees have been around for 102 years, so we know pretty well how they’re going to react.’’
Actually, it HAS BEEN!
