Massachusetts Lost Jobs Last Month

Not gonna help the budget crisis we have around here, I can tell you that!

"Mass. employers cut about 4,000 jobs in September

Massachusetts employers cut nearly 4,000 jobs in September, and the unemployment rate rose another one-tenth of a point to 5.3 percent, the state Department of Workforce Development reported. The drop was the third monthly decline in the past year, and 5.3 percent is still below the US rate of 6.1 percent. Financial services led September job losses, with 1,200, followed by education and health services, 1,100; construction, 1,000; manufacturing, 600; and professional and business services, 500. Employment in consumer sectors continued to decline. Retailers shed 1,200 jobs, and leisure and hospitality, which includes hotels, restaurants, and entertainment, lost 800. Government, information - which includes software makers - and trade, transportation, and utilities were among the only major sectors to gain jobs (Boston Globe)."

I wonder how many government jobs were axed by Patrick?

Seems like that is the only sector that grows around here.
