"At Cradle of Liberty, activists rally around antitax message" by Peter Schworm, Globe Staff | October 5, 2008

More than 250 activists rallied at Faneuil Hall yesterday, hoping to build support for a proposal on the November ballot that would abolish the state income tax.

Supporters of Question 1, which would eliminate the 5.3 percent tax, denounced government spending as wasteful and said the national financial crisis and slumping economy make it increasingly important to ease the burden on taxpayers.

"I'd rather see the people keep their money than sending it to Beacon Hill," said Gerry Cardillo, 62, of Easton. "State spending is out of control." Critics of the proposal said eliminating the tax would create a fiscal disaster and force drastic cuts to state services.

Oh, really?

Of course, "flushing . . . millions of dollars away supporting a highly profitable industry" when it comes to $300 million in taxpayer dollars for Hollywood is o.k., even as the price of a school lunch rises; paying $13 million for a computer software system that could have cost less than $3 million is all right because the winner was a close friend of the House speaker, even as my poorer-than-dirt district "has been struggling to close a $2 million budget gap."; the lottery shellling out "millions of dollars" for sports tickets for "lottery officials, their family members, and friends" is fine, even as schools are closing; making interest payments to banks to the tune of "a staggering $22 billion" for the Big Pit, as we call it around here, is required, even as bridges are neglected across the state; and again, paying off banks like UBS, who can "demand repayment of an additional $2 million a month beginning in January" while also receiving a "$179 million payment," while the state pension fund loses $1 billion dollars -- which still didn't stop the executive director from carving himself a nice "$64,000 bonus on top of his $322,000 annual salary."

Oh, and did I not mention the $1 BILLION dollar giveaway to the pharmaceutical corporations, even though "it's never been easy to turn a profit in biotech?" Flush that money away, too, taxpayer. Of course, the war looters were next in line for a handout. And should the state be appropriating money for a "multimillion-dollar reconstruction" of golf courses?

Yeah, FUCK YOU and your SCARE TACTICS!!! As for the "services," WHERE the FUCK ARE THEY because it is SHIT SERVICE for EVERYTHING OUT WEST in this state!!!!!!!

"It's no exaggeration to say it would have devastating consequences," said Michael J. Widmer, president of the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, a business-backed budget watchdog group. "The scale of the lost revenue, and the cuts that would ensue, are breathtaking."

This fucking guy!

WTF, does this PRO-TAX, PRO-BUSINESS guy make EVERY BG ARTICLE about the state budget?

Type "Widmer" into my blog search (also search Rock the Truth) for more on this shill.

If approved, the ballot measure would reduce tax collections by an estimated $12.5 billion, or about 40 percent of the budget, while saving the average taxpayer about $3,700 a year.

Translation: The deal ain't worth it to you, Mass. taxpayers. At least, that is what the PRO-TYRANNY, PRO-TAX BG would LIKE you to THINK!!!

See why I am SO LIVID at these FUCKING LIARS!!!!!?

The activists are waging their campaign as the state is already tightening its belt. Governor Deval Patrick said Thursday that Massachusetts would have to make substantial budget cuts because of lagging tax collections amid the ongoing financial crisis.

Yet people at the rally, including one man who held a sign that proclaimed "Bail Out Mass. Taxpayers," said they were far more concerned about their own budgets.

Translation: Anti-taxers are SELFISH!! Yup, I have ABOUT HAD it with the SHITTY ZIONIST AGENDA-PUSHING WAR DAILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"In this economy, everybody's tight," said Ben Maitland-Lewis, 25, a small business owner from Brighton. Led by the Committee for Small Government, the campaign faces strong opposition from education groups, unions, and many business and political leaders, who say the measure is fiscally reckless.

Of course, it is NOT RECKLESS to BORROW the STATE INTO OBLIVION while SITTING ON $2 BILLION DOLLARS!

So STATE GOVERNMENTS WORK FOR BANKS, huh?

Carla Howell, the committee's chairwoman and a former Libertarian gubernatorial candidate, said the tax cut would leave the state with $35 billion, and that the state could cope by streamlining operations and reducing waste. Howell said ending the income tax would also jump-start the economy, create jobs, and make the state "a magnet" for families and businesses.

Here, here!!!!! I love this lady!

While Howell and other speakers whipped up the crowd inside Faneuil Hall, supporters outside distributed T-shirts and bumper stickers to passersby, urging them to lobby for the measure in the next few weeks by contacting their friends and family.

Some in the crowd were torn. Dan Goldstein, 35, a physician's assistant from Natick, said he worried that the measure would lead to cutbacks that could threaten his brother's job as a public schoolteacher. At the same time, he said, taxpayers deserve a break. "I know there's a lot of mismanagement, but I haven't made up my mind yet," he said.

They couldn't find someone other than a JEW to talk to? Sigh.

The measure calls for cutting the tax rate in half next year and abolishing it the following year. It would also end the tax on interest and dividends for those living on an annuity, and end a capital gains tax on house, business, and stock sales. Nine other states have no income tax - Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Texas, Tennessee, Washington, and Wyoming, according to the Internal Revenue Service.

Maybe I ought to think about relocating....

In 2002, a similar ballot measure gained 45 percent of the vote, a level of support that stunned many political observers.

Yeah, and unless their is VOTE RIGGING, it will PASS THIS YEAR!!!! I have always voted AGAINST this idea in the past (when I had my head up my leftist ass), but NOT THIS TIME!!!!!

The Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation will release a study tomorrow that concludes that Question 1 would result in 70 percent budget cuts for the bulk of state government, including human services, environmental programs, prisons, courts, colleges and universities, and aid to cities and towns, Widmer said.

Even as CORPORATIONS and HOLLYWOOD LOOT THIS STATE!!

Hell, you are even PAYING FOR CORPORATE TV COMMERCIALS, Mass. taxpapyers!

Of course, THOSE SERVICES are not going to be CUT, are they?

Off with their fucking heads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But yesterday, many said they believed the measure had a solid chance of passing. Many voters, they said, are struggling financially and are angry at a state government they consider unresponsive to their concerns.

Unless the VOTES are RIGGED (and it HAS HAPPENED BEFORE)!!!

"In Massachusetts, Utah Mormon and Republican Mitt Romney defeated popular Democrat Shannon O'Brien in a 75% Democratic state."

Huh, that was the same year the repeal failed the last time. Coincidence?

Looking back, those are now the Good Old Days! I can't believe I'm typing this, but I MISS ROMNEY and wish I had NEVER VOTED for PATRICK!!

Well, NEVER AGAIN!

Near the end of her speech, Howell waved a state tax form in the air, then to loud applause lowered it slowly into a shredder on the stage. When the shredder didn't work, the audience called out for her to tear it up herself. She did, pausing for dramatic effect between rips. --more--"

Go get 'em, Carla!!!!!!

And here is a comment I left for another agenda-pushing flak down at the BG!

"Maybe the tax giveaways to Hollywood, the paying for corporate television advertisements, the Cognos scandal that cost the state $9 million dollars in corporate favoritism, the lottery shelling out millions for sports tickets, the BILLIONS in INTEREST PAYMENTS for projects like the Big Pit and the MTA, the never-ending borrowing of this state as it sits on $2 BILLION in "rainy day funds,"the BILLION dollar giveaway to pharmaceutical corporations, the MILLIONS in TAX CUTS to war-profiteers like Raytheon, the MULTI-MILLION upkeep of GOLF COURSES, the LOOTING over at the state pension office, retired teachers collecting pensions while still working (it's called double-dipping) etc, etc, etc. I, for one, am TIRED of being RIPPED OFF by the lying, looting legislators of this sate, and will FOR the FIRST TIME vote FOR the elimination of the income tax! Screw you guys and your SCARE TACTICS! You MSM types are NO BETTER than GEORGE BUSH!!"
