State to Fund Soccer Stadium in Somerville

I know, I know, the first reaction is WTF?!!! Just luring you in as I am waiting for the other shoe to drop.

How much you wanna bet they have no trouble getting a loan?

"A pitch for soccer in Somerville; N.E. Revolution seeks field in urban setting" by Eric Moskowitz, Globe Staff | October 16, 2008

The Kraft Group is strongly considering whether to build a soccer stadium in East Somerville as a home for the New England Revolution, a move that would allow the team to raise its profile in the region and capitalize on a rich concentration of immigrant soccer fans.

So we can have more rowdiness and violence in our streets? Ever see the reactions of the mobs of soccer fans in foreign countries?! You think Red Sox Nation is a bunch of idiot fools, wait until you get a load of this crowd of (dare I say it) illegals!

Following the lead of other Major League Soccer clubs, the Kraft family wants to build a 20,000- to 30,000-seat soccer stadium - possibly in an industrial no man's land that Somerville leaders want to turn into a vibrant commercial and residential district - and move the Revolution from Gillette Stadium, also owned by the Kraft Group, said Stacey James, a Kraft spokesman. --more--"

You see, this is to what I object!!!

You ALREADY HAVE a STADIUM to PLAY IN!!! WHY you NEED ANOTHER ONE?!!!! (Btw, Kraft also owns NFL PATRIOTS; rich get richer, 'eh?!)
