"Homeless families face strict new rules; Firm standards set for work, behavior; Some say many will be forced into streets" by David Abel, Globe Staff | February 17, 2009

Less than two years after vowing to end homelessness in Massachusetts, the Patrick administration has proposed new regulations that it acknowledges could force hundreds of homeless families back on the street.

Thank Gawd we don't have Republicans running this state! Thank Gawd we have liberal DemocraPs that actually take care of people and don't loot the state treasury and taxpayers for special interests.

The regulations, scheduled to take effect April 1, would deny shelter to families who in the last three years had been evicted from or had abandoned public or subsidized housing without good cause, and to those who fail to meet a new 30-hour per week work requirement and save 30 percent of their income.

This from a STATE that is BLEEDING RED INK and HACKING AWAY SERVICES while RAISING TAXES?! The ARROGANT GALL and CHUTZPAH is BEYOND BELIEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FIND a 30-HOUR a WEEK JOB WHERE?!!!! And how are PEOPLE on the EDGE going to SAVE MONEY?!!!!

Yup, there are your COMPASSIONATE LIBERAL DEMOCRAPS of Massachusetts!!

They also would reduce from six months to three months the period families can remain in shelters after their incomes rise above state limits; force out families absent from shelters for at least two consecutive nights as well as those who reject one offer of housing without good reason; and deny benefits for families whose members have outstanding default or arrest warrants as well as those whose only child is between ages 18 and 21, unless the child has a disability or is in high school.

I really want to know when the citizens of this state have HAD ENOUGH!!!

You know, they HAD A TEA PARTY HERE ONCE!!!! AND a REBELLION!!!!!!!!!!

Advocates for the homeless decried the proposal, which comes at a time when more homeless families are seeking beds in state shelters and remaining there longer. This month, the state is providing shelter for a record of nearly 2,700 families - one-quarter of them cramming for weeks at a time in expensive, often unsuitable motel rooms.

Translation: Even when they do give you something, it is shit!

"This is not the time to change the safety net," said Robyn Frost, executive director of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. "The number of people in need of shelter is like nothing we've ever seen. There's never been such a desperate need for housing, and these changes could be devastating. They couldn't come at a worse time."

Thanks, guverner, you piece of sheep-dipped piece of s***!

Julia E. Kehoe, the commissioner of the Department of Transitional Assistance, which oversees state shelters, said the system is "overburdened" and must change to provide services more equitably.

Tell that to HOLLYWOOD, BIOTECHS, RAYTHEON, and all the other CORPORATE LOOTERS getting TAXPAYER HANDOUTS in this state!

"It is certainly not our intent to be punitive, and we understand the difficulties families are facing," Kehoe said.

No, I don't think you do!

"But we are responsible for transforming the system, and particularly at a challenging time, it is absolutely critical that all stake holders need to work together to make sure that families have the greatest chance of moving out of shelter and poverty."

How does she talk out of both sides of her mouth like that -- and LIE out of both sides at the same time?

While hundreds of families will likely lose their shelter beds, she said the changes would open space for qualifying families, many of whom the state is now paying an average of $85 a night to stay in motels.

Yeah, let's play MUSICAL CHAIRS with the HOMELESS PEOPLE!

(Btw, readers, I gave $10 dollars I don't have to the local homeless guy last week and told him to go get a hot meal. Not so I can blow my own horn, but because THAT is the TRUE CHRISTIAN THING to do:

“Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter 'when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousnessa will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.” --Isaiah 58:7-8 (N.I.V.)

Why do I feel like I'm living under an Anti-Christian government?

Last week, more than 630 families, including about 1,000 children, were staying at motels, waiting an average 22 days for a spot at the state's 59 shelters. By reducing those eligible for shelter, Kehoe said the new regulations would save the state $520,000 this fiscal year and more than $11 million in fiscal 2010. "Given our limited resources, we wanted to encourage people to find housing or stay where they are, rather than encouraging them to come into the system," she said....

Yeah, about those LIMITED RESOURCES:

"$5m in tax breaks going to IBM for Littleton project

The Massachusetts Economic Assistance Coordinating Council approved $5 million in state and local tax breaks for IBM Corp., which recently began a $63 million expansion in Littleton. IBM vice president Bob McDonald said the company plans to create 42 jobs at the site over the next decade. McDonald said the computer giant, based in Armonk, N.Y., has already begun renovating a building and hopes to move into it next month. McDonald said the tax incentives were important, but the company would have gone forward with the expansion without them. IBM has 4,000 employees in Massachusetts, including about 2,000 in Littleton (Boston Globe October 30 2008)."

Excuse me?

A $5 MILLION TAXPAYER GIVEAWAY that IBM DIDN'T EVEN WANT?

And the state is going to "save" $520,000 by KICKING HOMELESS FAMILIES to the CURB and KEEPING THEM OUT?!!

Oh, yeah, tell me again about the COMPASSIONATE LIBERALISM of MASSACHUSETTS LIBERALS!!!

Many of the regulations are open to interpretation and risk being applied unfairly.... But Kehoe insisted the regulations will be applied fairly....

Oh, the state bullsh***er assures us it'll all be fair. Pffftt!

She and other state officials said the regulations are part of the administration's effort to overhaul the shelter system by more quickly moving the homeless into more permanent housing.

By MAKING THEM HOMELESS on the STREET? Yup, that's the way delusional and insane liberals think in this state!

In 2007, state officials moved the last homeless family out of a motel and heralded it as part of their new strategy to help all of the state's homeless find permanent housing....

Just ANOTHER BROKEN PROMISE by guverner Patrick, the piece of s*** prick!

And this month, the state revised the way it pays shelters, holding back thousands of dollars in payments until homeless families are housed.

Did they HOLD BACK TAXPAYER DOUGH from HOLLYWOOD or BIOTECHS, etc, etc, etc? See why I am HOPPING MAD, readers?!!!!!!!

And the WORST ASPECT?! If I DID THIS to YOU -- held back something you needed to survive -- on a PERSONAL LEVEL, it is called EXTORTION!!!!

But when the STATE DOES IT, it is OKAY!!!!

The state now withholds its final payments for a year after the family leaves the system, as part of an incentive for shelters to extend their services to help keep the families housed....

Doesn't that sound POSITIVELY ORWELLIAN to you!?
