"Boston-Power to build a new battery factory" by Erin Ailworth, Globe Staff | June 1, 2009

.... Give the Bay State job market a much-needed boost.... could employ about 600 people to produce batteries for plug-in hybrid and electric cars....

THAT'S IT? COULD?

Chief executive Christina Lampe-Onnerud, who founded the company, Boston-Power, in 2005, is seeking $100 million in funding from the federal energy and defense departments, as well as from the state, to finance the factory.

(Blog author is stunned to read how these jobs are being "created." What a FART-MISTING RIP-OFF!!!)

It currently has about 100 employees in the state and several hundred more overseas. If federal funding comes through, the factory would be the latest confirmation of Boston-Power's viability, even in a dismal economy.

By being PROPPED UP with TAXPAYER DOLLARS? That's viable? How come it isn't for me?

And HOW is the ELECTRICITY going to generated for the CAR BATTERIES? Fossil fuel power plants?

Late last year, as other businesses were suffering some of their worst fourth quarters ever, the battery maker struck a deal to provide the Sonata - a fast-charging, environmentally friendly power pack - for HP laptops. Soon after, the company received $55 million from several investors to market, manufacture, and sell its product.

Then WHY do they need TAXPAYER LOOT, huh? You are getting SO SCREWED, America!

And don't you love the globe picking agenda-pushing corn kernels out of a turd?

As a result, Boston-Power is adding employees while many firms are reducing their workforces. In March, company officials said they expected to hire about two dozen employees in the coming months. Last week, about a dozen job openings were listed on the company's website.

Oh, that will solve our employment problems!!

Yup, AGENDA-PUSHING ALL the WAY!!!

Nothing can describe the depths of despair I feel about my big-city newspaper right now. What a piece of agenda-pushing Zionist rubbish it is.

That's good news for Massachusetts officials, who have been working to bring jobs into the state, especially in the clean technology sector.

Yeah, here is a handful for the $100 million in taxpayer dollars!

Contingent on federal funding, the state has committed $9 million to help finance the new Boston-Power factory, Lampe-Onnerud said.

Like we DON'T NEED THAT SOMEPLACE ELSE!!!!

That support could come in the form of loans and other incentives, said Ian Bowles, secretary of the state's Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. "This is one of the most significant financial commitments we've offered in the clean-energy area," Bowles said.

He said Massachusetts is willing to bet on Boston-Power because it believes the company could help make the state an early leader in the emerging clean-energy manufacturing sector.

"These types of batteries are generally believed to be the key step for plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles," Bowles said. "It's a natural strength for us, and there's a very large market opening up for these types of products right now."

Which gets it's electricity from WHERE?

"Schott Solar closing Billerica plant" by Erin Ailworth, Globe Staff | June 3, 2009

In an effort to streamline its manufacturing operations, Schott Solar, which makes parts for solar panels, said it will close its Billerica plant by the end of July. The plant's 180 full-time employees will be offered jobs at the company's other locations, which include a plant in Southbridge, where it makes fiber optics, and a new $100 million facility in New Mexico, said spokesman Brian Lynch. Schott Solar is a subsidiary of the Schott Group of Germany. In a statement, it said the Billerica plant - which made photovoltaic modules - was too limited in "size and scale."
