DETROIT - Ford said the "silver lining" of the US automakers' crisis is that it is focusing national attention on the need for coordination in developing industrial and energy policies. He said he hopes the National Summit, a three-day gathering of business leaders and policy makers he is cochairing, will develop a "to-do" list for the government.
To get US industry globally competitive, the public and private sectors, and academia must work together on establishing regulations, funding and focusing research and development and creating trade and monetary policy, Ford said....
