The Massachusetts Bank of Biotech

That's where all the borrowed loot is, taxpayers!

"Life Sciences Center awards $1.4m" by Robert Weisman, Globe Staff | June 25, 2009

The board of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, a quasipublic agency charged with implementing the state’s life sciences initiative, yesterday awarded nearly $1.4 million in research grants to seven scientists whose research ranges from malaria to neural regeneration. Each grant will be matched by the scientists’ institutions.

And we ALL KNOW about "quasipublic agencies" don't we?

Type that into my blog search and see what you get!

Recipients include Jeffrey Bailey of the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Christopher Gabel of Boston University Medical Center, Sun Hur of Children’s Hospital, Raul Mostolovsky of Massachusetts General Hospital, Mark Niedre of Northeastern University, Konstantina Stankovic of Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and Satoshi Yoshida of Brandeis University.

The directors also approved another $695,000 for the International Stem Cell Registry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. The registry was created last September with an initial investment of $570,000 from the life sciences center.

Nice to know where your tax money is being thrown away as they close schools and layoff cops, 'eh, Bay Stater, because "it's never been easy to turn a profit in biotech."
