Taxpayer Speed Trap

"With the help of federal funding"

That's right!! YOUR TAX MONEY is going to GIVE YOU a SPEEDING TICKET!

And they called it stimulus!

"‘Click It or Ticket’ crackdown begins today; Extra patrols seek seat belt violators" by Abbie Ruzicka, Globe Correspondent | July 23, 2009

Massachusetts state and local police will be cracking down on drivers and passengers who are not wearing seat belts as part of a nationwide “Click It or Ticket’’ campaign that starts today and runs through July 30.

With the help of federal funding, an extra 470 state and an additional 240 local traffic patrols will be looking out for seat belt violators during the enforcement blitz, said David Procopio, State Police spokesman.

Massachusetts has the worst seat belt compliance in the nation....

GOOD!!!! At least you are taking a stand, 'er, seat against tyranny, Bay-Stater!

Police cannot stop a car for a seat belt violation, but people over age 16 in a vehicle stopped for other traffic violations will be issued a $25 ticket if they are not wearing a seat belt. The driver could also face a $25 fine for each passenger under 16 who is not wearing a seat belt or in a proper child seat restraint.

And if you aren't breaking the law, don't worry, cops will invent a reason to stop you. I've seen it a million times. Easy way to make a quick $25, huh?

The awareness campaign is sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts, Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, and State and local police.

Aren't you glad this government loves us?

I guess that's what all the lying and looting is for, huh?
