Buying the Homeless a Cup of Coffee

"That's not stimulus. Stimulus means starting a company that will CONTINUE to sell products and provide jobs after that stimulus money runs out. Like the road patching operations being funded with stimulus money, once the initial project is over, those people are out of work again, the stimulus money is gone, and there are no operating businesses making products for sale." -- Wake the Flock Up

The paper itself proves him correct:

"The one-time funds are no hedge against future layoffs, but officials and firefighters said they were hopeful that additional federal grants, tax growth associated with an eventual recovery, and other measures could help"

Translation: This wasn't stimulus; this was a grab bag for well-connected and favored interests.

"State distributes $17.9m in grants to aid homeless" by Jenifer McKim, Globe Staff | October 10, 2009

Massachusetts is awarding $17.9 million in federal stimulus money to 20 nonprofits, communities, and housing authorities to help at-risk families find stable housing....

Robert Pulster, associate director of the Division of Housing Stabilization at the state Department of Housing and Community Development. “We do have a crisis now.’’

There are about 3,000 families living in shelters, including 1,009 in state-funded motels at a cost to taxpayers of about $2 million a month, Pulster said. There are about 3,000 individuals living in shelters, he said.

Seems like there is an AWFUL LOT of TAX LOOT OUT THERE.

Funding will go toward helping families move out of shelters and to preventing at-risk families from losing their homes. The money is part of $45 million in federal funds awarded to the state by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

That had to be BORROWED from BANKS and REPAID with INTEREST, America. You would have been better off KEEPING YOUR TAX LOOT.

About $1 million is staying with the state for administrative costs, and an additional $26.1 million is going directly to 20 Massachusetts communities to help local organizations prevent homelessness.

And that is creating how many jobs?

But they SAVE JOBS, right?

"13 localities get aid for fire jobs; 127 to be rehired after forced layoffs" by Eric Moskowitz, Globe Staff | October 8, 2009

Nearly 130 firefighters across the state who were laid off because of budget cuts will be rehired, Governor Deval Patrick said yesterday, as he announced the release of $8.2 million in federal stimulus funds to 13 local fire departments.

The money will bring back 44 firefighters in Fall River, restore 33 in New Bedford, and return 16 in Worcester, all of whom were laid off after those cities suffered shortfalls in local and state tax revenues. Additional communities will benefit, leading to the total of 127 firefighters across the state getting their jobs back.

For how long?

The one-time funds are no hedge against future layoffs, but officials and firefighters said they were hopeful that additional federal grants, tax growth associated with an eventual recovery, and other measures could help....

Oh, they don't know.

So much for the stimulus savings, huh? Nevertheless, we get the agenda-pushing s***-shovel:

"Mass. spends $4b of stimulus; Report breaks down state’s use of $17.7b" by Steven Rosenberg, Globe Staff | October 12, 2009

Massachusetts has spent more than $4 billion of the $17.7 billion in stimulus funds it received from the US government to help offset budget shortfalls, provide tax reductions, and fund construction projects, saving or creating 27,400 jobs in the state according to a report by the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center.

So that agenda-pushing outfit says through the MSM mouthpiece the Glob.

What I want to know, is why did they TAKE YOUR TAX LOOT if they are just going to GIVE IT BACK (or did those FAVORITE INTERESTS ONCE AGAIN gobble up the loot)?

Job losses in the Bay State and across the nation would have been significantly deeper without the federal stimulus law, said Noah Berger, executive director of the Budget and Policy Center, a nonprofit research group.

Of course, he has NO PROOF to back that up and in fact the OPPOSITE SEEMS to be TRUE!

What it comes down to is the PRO-GOVERNMENT EDUCATION and MEDIA SYSTEMS have LIED TO YOU, America!!!!

They have TAUGHT YOU GOVERNMENT and the MSM is a SAVIOR, and as we have seen, THEY LIE!!!!!!

The group’s report, to be released this week, is one of the first attempts by an independent organization to document the effects of the stimulus on Massachusetts.

Translation: We need a bullshit report so we can trumpet our big pile like a kid who shows his parents his first turd in the toilet!!!!

It said the stimulus helped preserve the jobs of municipal police officers, teachers, and firefighters, while generating jobs at new building and infrastructure projects across the state. By extending unemployment benefits and providing tax credits, it also fueled new consumer spending.

And the CREATING JOBS PART???

Obama and Biden tell me MILLIONS of JOBS were created!!!

The report breaks down how the state’s $17.7 billion will be spent, including $5.8 billion in tax relief to residents, $5.5 billion for workforce training, education, and energy efficiency programs, $3.6 billion to help fill the state budget gap, $1.9 billion for unemployment compensation and other direct benefits to residents, and $942 million in infrastructure repairs and improvements....

I want to know who is getting those, because IT IS NOT US!

They are RAISING TAXES ALL OVER the PLACE HERE!!!!

And those road improvements?

They are for corporate and business infrastructure while our roads are falling apart.

Reader Maria Vickers says she is terrified that a Lowell Connector bridge over Interstate 495 in Chelmsford is in such bad shape. The structure was inspected and put on a list for repairs.

Other state elected officials reacted to the report with mixed feelings.

Republican State Senator Scott Brown, who is running for the US Senate seat held by the late Edward M. Kennedy, believes the federal stimulus has succeeded in growing government programs but has done very little to grow the economy and create jobs, said Eric Fehrnstrom, a Brown spokesman. “With Massachusetts closing in on double digit unemployment, it’s shameful that stimulus dollars are not being spent in a more targeted job-creating fashion so that we can put people to work and get our economy moving again,’’ said Fehrnstrom.

Senate minority leader Richard Tisei downplayed the report and said most of the $17.7 billion in stimulus funds should have been spent by now.

Out on the street there’s a sense that the stimulus money isn’t being spent wisely,’’ said Tisei.

I AM the street, readers!

“I think we missed a big opportunity to get the money out the door. The money probably saved some state and local public sector jobs but it hasn’t really stimulated the economy. I think most people’s expectations were that jobs would be created in the private sector.’’

I never expected anything but theft from the government.

Dot Joyce, a spokeswoman for Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, said the city has received more $250 million in stimulus grants. “I believe it’s putting people to work creating affordable housing for our residents, and enabling the city to make significant progress,’’ said Joyce.

By SHELLING OUT $2 MILLION/MONTH for HOTEL ROOMS for the HOMELESS?

According to a city website that tracks stimulus fund spending in Boston, the money saved the jobs of 100 police officers, and 215 employees of the Boston schools. At the same time, 970 jobs were created by using funds to jumpstart a stalled housing development and to repave Boston roads, pedestrian ramps, and dedicate 4 miles of bike lanes.

Yeah, this "created jobs." PFFFFT!

Mayor William Scanlon of Beverly said his city had received $1.3 million in stimulus funds to keep teachers in the classrooms, and to help pay for a new fire boat and subsidize a city energy project. “It certainly has saved some jobs in the school system,’’ Scanlon said. “I’m grateful for what we’ve got and I’m looking for more.’’

Yup, TAX LOOT just magically appears out of thin air to this "politician."

Well, you have MORE CUTS COMING, Mis-dah May-ah!!!!
