Taking a Look at Detroit

It's SO VISIBLE, readers!

"I was reading an article about Detroit this morning and it was a grim picture that the author was trying to paint a smiley face on; talking about how all the want and struggle had led to community gardens and so on and so forth."

He must have been referring to this
:

"Fresh goods delivered to Detroit’s ‘food desert'; Truck encourages healthy eating" by David Runk, Associated Press | August 12, 2009

DETROIT - Peaches & Greens has community gardens, where volunteers grow greens, tomatoes, and other vegetables to help stock the truck. The food also is offered at a neighborhood produce market, and organizers hope to persuade liquor stores and corner markets to stock their vegetables....

People eat better when it’s easy for them to get healthy foods, said Lilian Cheung, a researcher at Harvard’s School of Public Health. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently recommended improving the availability of fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods in low-income areas lacking grocery stores as part of a broad effort to curb obesity, she noted....

But Detroit’s limited public transportation makes it difficult for those without cars to get to farmers markets or suburban stores, and decades of population decline have made most neighborhoods in the 138-square-mile city too sparse to support corner produce stands....

The lack of fresh food is a public health problem in Detroit, which has one of the nation’s highest obesity rates. Other cities also are struggling with obesity, diabetes, and other illnesses tied to diets high in calories and sugar.

Always pushing the agenda, huh?

See: Time For Lunch

I'd type a comment but I was raised to not talk with food in my mouth.

Maybe the U.N. could have them over for lunch.

They’re trying a variety of ways to solve the problem, from adding pushcart vendors who sell fresh fruits and vegetables in New York to a moratorium on new fast-food restaurants in part of Los Angeles. A growing number of farmers markets nationwide are accepting food stamps....

But the BANKS and WALL STREET are BOOMING, so who cares?

"Thousands mob Detroit center hoping for housing relief; Long lines, short tempers illustrate Motor City’s plight" by Corey Williams, Associated Press | October 8, 2009

DETROIT - Scuffles erupted as several thousand Detroit residents jockeyed, pushed, and shoved yesterday to get free money....

Free? It has to come from somewhere (unless the Fed prints it out of thin air, see link below, in which case TAXPAYERS pay INTEREST on that "free money.")

How DECEPTIVE of the MSM, although they are USED to FAVORED, WELL-CONNECTED INTERESTS getting ALL the FREE MONEY they can imagine.

Several received medical treatment for fainting or exhaustion while frantically trying to obtain the applications for federal housing assistance. The long lines and short tempers highlighted the frustration and desperation that Detroit residents feel struggling through an economic nightmare.

I've heard for months there is a rec... never mind.

The line around Cobo Center, a downtown convention center, started forming well before daybreak. Anger flared within a few hours as more people sought a dwindling number of applications.

Welcome to 21st-century AmeriKa!!!

Members of the Detroit Police Department’s Gang Squad and other tactical units were called in for crowd control.

Which, of course, costs the taxpayers MORE $$$!!!

And you can SEE the TYRANNY, can't you?

Several people reportedly passed out from exhaustion and had to be treated by emergency medical personnel. Some minor injuries were reported, and no arrests were made.

“It’s a sign of the times....’’

One in four working-age adults in Detroit is without a job, and the city’s home foreclosure rate continues to be among the nation’s highest. One in four families and 3 out of every 10 individuals live below the poverty level, according to the US census. Before yesterday, Detroit Planning and Development workers already had spent two days handling long lines at City Hall and other locations. Rumors that $3,000 stimulus checks from the Obama administration spurred heavy turnouts.

I'm sorry, but THAT IS NOT "FREE MONEY!"

Ah, who cares?

The baseball team lost; now THAT is REAL NEWS!!

The MSM told me that really bummed-out the people in Detroit, much more than these items. Sports is SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT in AmeriKa, and I FIND THAT OUT EVERY TIME I WATCH a GAME with my friends.

The AmeriKan people deserve what is coming because they do nothing but sit on their fat asses and block their ears. That's fine; I'll shut up now. F*** you guys.

Which is why I PROFUSELY THANK YOU, readers and followers, for BEING HERE!!!! YOU are what has KEPT ME GOING because I DON'T LIKE THIS ANYMORE! Can't you tell by the commentaries?
