The former head of Brockton’s building department has pleaded guilty to charges of accepting kickbacks from contractors. Joseph Vasapollo Jr. pleaded guilty in federal court on Tuesday to extortion and bribery charges. Authorities allege that Vasapollo, 67, got $4,000 in kickbacks in 2008 from a contractor paid $15,000 to remove asbestos from the Brockton War Memorial Building (AP)."
