Getting Around Gaza

Well, the first thing I think of when I think of Gaza are the Israeli war crimes:

"UN gives Gaza investigations into war crimes 5 extra months" by Edith M. Lederer, Associated Press | February 27, 2010

So that's how Israel is getting around that one, huh?

Ah. We all SAW WHAT HAPPENED with our OWN EYES and NOTHING will ever remove the stain.

UNITED NATIONS - The UN General Assembly voted yesterday to give Israel and the Palestinians an additional five months to conduct independent investigations of alleged war crimes during last year’s conflict in Gaza and warned of possible “further action’’ by UN bodies, including the Security Council, if they don’t.

Yeah, right, another hollow and veto-bound threat.

And since when does the U.N. defer to anyone?

Did they defer to Iraq even though they were telling the truth?

The Palestinian-drafted resolution was adopted by a vote of 98 to 7 with 31 abstentions. Fifty-six countries did not vote, probably because of difficulties getting to UN headquarters as heavy snow fell in New York City.

Don't even get me started on the weather.

Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian UN observer, called the vote a “victory to the victims of the Palestinian people and victory to international humanitarian law.’’

I don't see how!

Delay is in ISRAEL'S FAVOR since it prevents their IMAGE from FURTHER DAMAGE (although it has become hard to imagine how that is possible these days they have sunk so low).

That's why Palestinians like Hamas more.

In November, the 192-member world body gave Israel and the Palestinians three months to undertake “independent, credible investigations’’ into the findings of a UN-appointed expert panel chaired by South African Judge Richard Goldstone.

Then why did the U.N guy even bother?

It concluded that both sides committed war crimes and possible crimes against humanity during the Gaza war, in which 13 Israelis and almost 1,400 Palestinians were killed, including many civilians.

I dispute the both sides account:
War Criminals' Whine

Sort of brushed over the deaths rather quickly, too, no?

The conflict began in December 2008 and ended three weeks later in January.

So casual and nonchalant with the three-week war crime, no?

Of course, no mention of WMD use, etc, no, never.

The assembly asked Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to report back on implementation of the resolution in three months. But in his highly anticipated report in early February, Ban said he could not determine whether the Israelis or Palestinians had conducted credible investigations.

That set the stage for yesterday’s follow-up resolution, which was consponsored by more than 20 mainly Islamic countries.

Israel’s UN ambassador, Gabriela Shalev, reiterated the government’s opposition to the Goldstone report and said, “Israel is conducting and will continue to conduct, investigations that are independent, credible, in conformity with international standards’’ into its actions in Gaza.

Yeah, whatever, no one hears you liars anymore, sorry.

But the Palestinians and many Arab and non-Arab speakers who took the floor after the vote insisted that the Israeli investigations are not independent.

The Palestinians acknowledged that they only created a commission to carry out an investigation in late January.

To investigate what? How they have been butchered?

Mansour pledged that in the next five months the Palestinians will conduct in “the most efficient manner an independent and credible investigation into the allegations [and] submit to the secretary general a substantial response.’’

The second item is the war criminal siege and the PEOPLE SUFFERING under BOTH:

"Hamas bans men from women’s hair salons" by Associated Press | March 5, 2010

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Gaza’s Islamic Hamas government yesterday banned men from working in women’s hair salons, the latest step in its campaign to impose strict Islamic customs on Gaza’s 1.5 million people.

You know, the Zionist demonization never stops.

How about the people who are hungry, living in tents, rubble, what have you?

See:
The Gaza Siege:1000 Days And One Night Of Torment

Instead we get HAIR SALON STORIES!

Since seizing Gaza in 2007, Hamas has taken steps in that direction while avoiding a frontal assault on secularism.

I have said it over and over again. Paper knows they won elections and we keep seeing the same repeated garbage.

Thus you CAN NOT TRUST the NEWSPAPERS of AmeriKa -- especially when it comes to ALL THINGS ISRAEL!

The majority of Gaza residents are conservative Muslims, but Hamas is under growing pressure from more radical groups to prove its fundamentalist credentials by imposing ever stricter edicts.

What, Israel creating some more false-flag fronts to undermine Hamas now?

Flashback: Israel Helped Create Hamas

Why Would Israel Create Hamas?

Always nice to have an "enemy" around, huh?

The latest measure irked one of the victims of the ban.

“Next thing you know, they will ban doctors from treating women and will only let women treat women,’’ said Barakat al-Ghoul, 44, a hair stylist. “Tomorrow, they will ban everything.’’

Ghoul, who has cut women’s hair for 26 years, said a ban would be devastating. He said he has no other way of making a living.

Islamic tradition forbids women from showing their hair to men who are not their husbands or blood relatives. Until now, however, exceptions were made for the eight known male hair stylists in women’s salons in Gaza City.

Mohammed Fares, a salon owner who employs only women, said the first salons for women sprang up in Gaza in the 1950s.

Some of the male stylists have a devoted following, and their customers accept long waiting periods to get appointments.

Fares said Hamas’s new ruling takes away one of the last remnants of a more liberal lifestyle in Gaza that flourished decades ago, when the territory had cinemas and bars. All cinemas and bars were closed years ago.

Even if they were open would Israel allow the supplies in?

And that is what LIBERATION is equated to in the agenda-pushing papers, huh?

Whether you can get made-up and drunk?

As for the cinema stuff, I see plenty of Palestinians and Palestinian sites putting up tons of stuff so that just doesn't wash with me.

It's because they have no electricity, isn't it?

Since Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza in 2005, small ultraradical Islamic groups have sprung up. Known as Jihadi Salafis, they advocate holy war and a strict, fundamentalist form of Islam, dismissing Hamas as too pragmatic.

Oh, do I ever smell an "Al-CIA-Duh" there!

They are suspected in dozens of bombings of Internet cafes, music stores, and other alleged purveyors of vice.

Fares said a small pipe bomb was set off recently outside a male hair stylist’s shop, as a warning for him to stop working.

So who is working for Zionist Israel?

The Hamas police announced the ban on male hair stylists yesterday on their website, citing the Interior Ministry. The statement said those violating the ban would face legal consequences but did not elaborate.

Yeah, Gaza's young men must be real bastards, huh?

"Gaza’s youth not ‘superfluous’" by Yousef Munayyer | March 3, 2010

Yousef Munayyer is executive director of The Palestine Center in Washington.

‘TO CUT down on gang-related crimes, policies could be put in place to curb the African-American population growth in places like Harlem and Compton. The government could consider cutting off welfare benefits for families in these urban areas to discourage births of blacks and cut down the supply of ‘superfluous young men’ who have nothing else to do in their lives but be preyed on by criminal gang leaders who give them a sense of belonging. Ultimately these policies are an effective way to limit gang related crimes.’’

The absurdity and lack of logic in the above fictitious paragraph is overshadowed only by its offensive nature.

He found a copy of the Boston Globe?

Few would welcome such a view in 2010, but this kind of argument was made recently to an audience that received it with applause instead of disgust.

Martin Kramer, a fellow at Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, made this argument at a conference in Israel last month. The only difference was that the population he sought to limit was Palestinians in Gaza to prevent “economically superfluous young men’’ from joining radical groups. He said that “if society cannot offer dignified pursuits for the fourth and fifth and sixth sons, then someone else will.’’

He also supported lowering the fertility rate for Palestinians in Gaza and argued that this “will happen faster if the West stops providing pro-natal subsidies for Palestinians with refugee status.’’

Gee, bombing them and locking them up in the world's largest outdoor prison so they suffer severe privation helps that fertility rate, huh?

Related: Israel Admits At Least 14 Gazans Die Every Day

HOW MANY PALESTINIANS DIED TODAY because they could NOT GET MEDICAL CARE?!

And now you know why the cinemas and bars are not open!

They need to CONSERVE all the POWER they can!

Society? In Kramer’s version of reality, it is Palestinian society that cannot offer dignified pursuits for their children. He seems to think Gaza exists in a vacuum. He seems to be ignorant of the events and actors that have created the current situation.

The children of Gaza are not “economically superfluous’’ because they were born into large families. Their inability to be productive members of society is not the fault of society itself, but the fault of the occupying and devastating force of the state of Israel.

Yes, the TRUTH can be printed in an opinion piece in the AmeriKan newspaper.

The occupation of Gaza and the subsequent siege and attacks by Israel have destroyed lives, industry and infrastructure. With the percentage of the population relying directly on food aid increasing from 60 percent to 80 percent in the past three years and unemployment at an all-time high, it is obvious that the children of Gaza are “superfluous’’ not simply because they are born, but because of what they are born into: a hell in a prison controlled from the outside by Israel.

And yet they produce such FINE YOUNG MEN!

See: Voice From Gaza

From Gaza: Suffering Like Gazans

The Palestine Telegraph

Incredible, and I'm sure their parents are very proud (as they should be).

Yet Kramer knows full well that Israel is laying siege to Gaza. In fact, he goes on to support it. The siege, he argued in his speech, can “break Gaza’s runaway population growth - and there is some evidence that they have - that may begin to crack the culture of martyrdom which demands a constant supply of superfluous young men.’’

So WHEN is the NEXT OFFENSIVE, Israel?

The fact that Kramer fails to make the connection between Israeli policies and the conditions that lead to economic “superfluousness’’ undergirds his logical and analytical ineptitude. This, coupled with the racist and offensive nature of his comments, should push decision makers at Harvard University to reconsider whether it should be affiliated with such individuals.

Yeah, it is amazing how that never made much of a flap here in USrael -- as opposed to some of the things Muslims say, 'eh?

Had Kramer’s comments been about any other group, as described in the opening paragraph, Harvard might have already terminated his fellowship.

And the paper would have pounce.... well, maybe not. You know why, readers.

I'm actually surprised they printed that.

I'm used to things like this from my *ewspaper.

"Hamas reels after official’s son details spying for Israel; Episode tarnishes group’s image of secrecy, discipline" by Karin Laub and Mohammed Daraghmeh, Associated Press | February 25, 2010

Those damn kids!
You can't trust any of 'em anywhere!

GAZA CITY - Assertions by the son of a Hamas founder yesterday that he was a long-term spy for Israel exposed a new side of the Islamic militant group’s vulnerability and punched a hole in its meticulously groomed image of secrecy and discipline.

Hmmmmm!

Is this a psy-op cui bono?

The spy affair comes as Hamas is still reeling from suspicions that informants helped Israel assassinate a top operative in a Dubai hotel.

Then they are in trouble back in Palestine!

Related:
An Israeli Success Story

Yeah, I guess.

The
PR fallout was pretty bad.

The back-to-back scandals were sure to leave Hamas leaders fearful of their own and ever more painfully aware of how capable Israel is of reaching the inner circles of their organization.

Oh, I'M SMELLING a DEFINITE PSY-OP now!

Yeah, TOO BAD ISRAEL GOT CAUGHT and is LOSING ONE of its SPIES!!!

Of course, Israel has always been able to reach those they do not like with impunity. They poisoned Arafat; however, if you believe that you are just a crazy conspiracy theorist or paranoid Palestinian, right?

At the center of the latest affair is 32-year-old Mosab Yousef, a son of Sheik Hassan Yousef, a Hamas founder serving a six-year term in an Israeli prison.

Hamas, which overran the Gaza Strip in 2007, dismissed the assertions as a lie and said they were part of an Israeli attempt to weaken the movement. But the man’s father did not rule out that his son was an informer, contending he was blackmailed by Israeli agents as a teen.

Yeah, THAT HAPPENS ALL the TIME! They snare some kid in a sweep and torture him until he turns against his kin.

And with the paper CONTINUOUSLY MISREPRESENTING HISTORY how can you trust ANYTHING THEY SAY when it comes to Israel?

Analysts said the disclosures hurt Hamas’s image and were sure to trigger new security concerns in the movement.

Cui bono, readers?

The Israeli Haaretz daily reported yesterday that Mosab Yousef provided intelligence to Israel’s Shin Bet security service for more than a decade, preventing dozens of Hamas attacks against Israelis, including suicide bombings, saving hundreds of lives. The paper said he also helped put several senior Palestinian operatives behind bars.

Yeah, Jewish lives are always far more important, notice that?

The younger Yousef, who moved to California in 2007, declined an interview request by the Associated Press.

His memoir, “Son of Hamas,’’ is being published in the United States next week. His publicist confirmed that the information presented by Haaretz is described in the book.

Oh, NO, he ha$ a VE$TED INTERE$T in thi$ $tory?!!

Why do I really $mell p$y-op$ and now believe Hamas?

Mosab Yousef was considered one of the Shin Bet’s most valuable assets and was dubbed “The Green Prince,’’ a reference to his Hamas pedigree and the Islamists’ signature color, Haaretz said. The newspaper said it confirmed Mosab Yousef’s account with Shin Bet agents, including his handler. The report said Mosab, who converted to Christianity, despised Hamas and acted out of ideological conviction.

Now why drag Christians into this, you frame-up f***?!!!

And nothing Christian about his ideology, either. That begins with a capital Z.
