CHELMSFORD — Senator Scott Brown said yesterday that intelligence briefings he has received over the past seven months have driven home to him the fact that terrorists remain determined to attack the United States, but he believes the greatest threat to global security would be an Iran with nuclear weapons....
Good thing they aren't making them.
Brown said: “The goal remains global for them. They work behind the scenes. . . . They’re recruiting American citizens now.’’
Brown, who recently returned from a 10-day congressional tour of Israel and Jordan, said he was nonetheless convinced that the greatest threat to international security is Iran.
That country’s “tentacles are everywhere’’ in sponsoring terrorism in the Middle East, he said, and it was obvious that Iran wants to build nuclear weapons.

Brown said it was preposterous that Iran claimed it merely wanted nuclear fuel for civilian energy, saying the country is sitting on one of the largest oil reserves in the world.
Yeah, but they can't refine it. They need to sell it.
If Iran did develop nuclear weapons, he said, it could start a catastrophic nuclear arms race in the Middle East reminiscent of the rivalry between the United States and Soviet Union during the Cold War.
Well, ISRAEL ALREADY HAS them!!
“I can tell you from my dealings with all the leaders in that area, that is the biggest fear,’’ Brown said of an Iran with atomic weapons.
Yeah, we know who he has been dealing with.
Still, Brown struck a somewhat hopeful tone.
He said economic sanctions by the United States and other countries on Iran have taken a toll, causing rising unemployment and increased unrest.
Sorry, but THAT is TERRORISM!
Brown also struck a bipartisan note.
He said 9/11 was as profound a moment for Americans as the assassination of President John F. Kennedy was a generation earlier, and he praised the unity people in the United States showed in the immediate aftermath of the terrorist attacks.
“We’ve kind of forgotten that a little bit,’’ he said....
