North Korea's Flash Floods

They sure are in the AmeriKam MSM -- if you are lucky enough to find a sentence that mentions them.

Of course, when you demonize and individual and disparage a whole nation you mus not imply the slightest suffering lest the game be given away.

"New leader apt to emerge after convention begins in N. Korea; Many expecting ailing Kim Jong Il to present his son" by Jean H. Lee, Associated Press | September 7, 2010

SEOUL — Huge posters plastered across North Korea’s capital hailed the nation’s biggest political convention in 30 years as a historic event as the world watched yesterday for signs the country’s next leader will make his public debut....

One North Korean professor said the party meeting marks a turning point for the communist nation.

However, there was no confirmation yesterday that the convention, scheduled to take place early this month, has begun. The timing was kept secret, as is typical of the North Korean regime....

Yeah, good thing AmeriKa or its MSM never keep anything secret.

Now 68 and reportedly suffering from diabetes and other ailments, Kim Jong Il, who took over after his father, North Korea founder Kim Il Sung, died of heart failure in 1994, is believed to be grooming his youngest son, Jong Un, to take the Kim dynasty into a third generation.

Yeah, and the LAST THING the OLD MAN wants is a WAR to hand off to the boy.

CUI BONO from the rhetoric, readers?

Whose ships stay in the region conducting war games and projecting power?

Little is known about the twentysomething heir apparent said to be his father’s favorite among three sons. His name has never been mentioned in state media, and there are no known photos of him as an adult.

There was speculation that Kim Jong Il took the son to China on a recent surprise trip to introduce him to top Chinese officials, but there was no mention of Jong Un in dispatches in Chinese or North Korean state media.

Of course, that could be a secret.

South Korea’s defense minister said military officials were preparing for any situation that might arise if the succession does not go smoothly.

I don't like that kind of talk!

“I believe North Korea may face many difficulties since Kim Jong Un is a young man, only about 27 years old,’’ Kim Tae-young said yesterday at a Seoul forum....

Already are, but....

The conference comes amid tensions with Washington and the rest of the international community....

As if it is the whole world against them.

I'm sick of this kind of distorted crap passing as news!

South Korean officials said troops, artillery, and tanks were massing near the capital in apparent preparation for a military parade, either for the party convention or for a Workers’ Party milestone taking place next month.

Oh, then no attack from the North in sight.

Good Friends, a Seoul-based civic group that sends food and other aid to North Korea, said convention registration began Saturday, and delegates were touring historic sites.

That's what I want to do.

Screw the bombings and invasions. That doesn't win anyone over and leaves a lot of dead people and destruction behind.

Well, no mention of the floods there.

"N. Korea gesture could ease tensions" by Associated Press | September 8, 2010

SEOUL — North Korea yesterday freed the crew of a South Korean fishing boat seized a month ago, a sign the rivals may be talking behind the scenes to improve relations that have plummeted to their lowest point in years.

And WORKING BEHIND the United States back!!

In another indication ties may be strengthening, the North asked the South for aid....

North Korea’s conciliatory overture came days after the flood-stricken nation requested a shipment of rice, cement, and heavy equipment from South Korea.

Yeah, you don't read much at all about the ongoing devastation across the region anymore.

Waters overran riverbanks last month, swamping farms, houses, and public buildings in the northwestern city of Sinuiju and adjacent areas. State media reported the region was “severely affected’’ by the flooding.

Observers of North Korea fear the flooding has worsened the country’s chronic food shortages....

:-(

Somebody get 'em a plate a food for right now!

Maybe those U.S. warships could deliver some chow instead of threats.

Of course, it is back to the politics in my newspaper:

"N. Korea rejoices, dynasty talk swirls; Kim’s son may be named successor at pivotal meeting" by Hyung-Jin Kim, Associated Press | September 10, 2010

SEOUL — North Korea celebrated its 62d anniversary yesterday with odes to supreme leader Kim Jong Il and pilgrimages to his late father’s statue amid hints that a political meeting believed aimed at promoting his son as successor is imminent.

The old man must be on death's doorstep.

That will be breaking news on CNN when it happens -- which will make me wonder what else is going on around the world that we will not be seeing.

There is widespread speculation that Kim will use the conference to give his third and youngest son, Kim Jong Un, a key Workers’ Party position as part of plans to extend the family dynasty to a third generation.

Seems to be the main occupation of the AmeriKan MSM these days.

Kim Jong Il, known as the “Dear Leader’’ in North Korea’s cult of personality, took over leadership after his father, North Korea’s founder Kim Il Sung, died of heart failure in 1994 — communism’s first hereditary transfer of power.

The AmeriKan MSM sure has a lot of nerve considering the way it promotes our leaders and politics!!

Kim, 68, may have wanted to name his successor in 2012, the centenary of his father’s birth. But a reported stroke in 2008 may have sped up the process, with his little-known third son emerging as the likely heir. Kim is also said be suffering from diabetes and a kidney ailment.

Oh, just like bin Laden was before he (literally) went underground.

State media reported Monday that Workers’ Party delegates were gathering in Pyongyang to elect new leaders in what would be North Korea’s first major political conference in 30 years.

Since then, there has been no official confirmation that the meeting had begun. North Korea watchers say it may have been postponed due to Kim’s health problems or recent flooding that disrupted transportation....

Yeah, somehow those floods don't seem to matter much.

:-(

North Korea has launched a propaganda campaign promoting Kim Jong Un, including songs and poems praising the young man, South Korea’s spy agency said.

The AmeriKan MSM sure would know all about those. Led us into mass-murdering war crimes with 'em!

Little is known about him, including the exact year of his birth and what he looks like. He is believed to have studied in Switzerland during middle school and is thought to be in his 20s.

A former sushi chef for Kim wrote in a 2003 memoir that Jong Un, as a child, looked and acted just like his father, was competitive and aggressive, as well as a keen fan of American basketball.

I swear to God everyone has a little good in them.

Did you know Hitler was a vegetarian?

Oh, now he wasn't?

So my schools lied to me again, huh?

South Korean defense officials have said they are preparing for any situation that might arise if North Korea’s succession does not go smoothly.

Why wouldn't it?

Other than an attack by the U.S., how can things get much worse?

Waiting for that next weather update, MSM.
