Sunday Globe Special: Rickshaw Ride in Gaza

"Motor rickshaws sidelining Gaza’s donkeys" by Karin Laub,  Associated Press / December 5, 2010

You know that pile that donkeys often leave behind?

That's what my morning newspaper smells like.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Gaza’s donkey carts, slow but cheap and widely used in this scruffy land, have finally met their match. They are being edged out by an Asian import, a blend of motorcycle and miniature pickup truck.

Smuggled by the hundreds from Egypt in recent months, motor rickshaws, also known as tuk-tuks, have filled the congested streets of the Palestinian territory, in part because fuel has become cheaper than donkey feed....

They have become a badge of Gazans’ ability to adapt to tough circumstances, including an Israeli border blockade and authoritarian rule by the Islamic militant group Hamas.

Honestly, readers, I am tired of the coded propaganda.

The day I see ZIONIST MILITANT REGIME to DESCRIBE that WAR-CRIMINAL stain ISRAEL they Amerikan media is never getting a break.

Oh, now the newspapers make perfect sense.

Tuk-tuks also have helped create some jobs in a territory where unemployment is higher than 30 percent.

Oh, that is so insulting!!!

???!!!!!

Ahmed Madhoun, who says he cannot get a teaching job because he is not a Hamas supporter....

It doesn't matter which party you might support here,. Teachers are being laid off anyway.

Recently, Madhoun and other tuk-tuk drivers lined up outside the UN food distribution center in the Shati refugee camp, where just a few months ago, donkey carts would have been waiting to take on sacks of rice and flour....

Still, the overall economic outlook remains dim in the Gaza Strip. Economic activity picked up after Israel eased the blockade over the summer — in response to international criticism over its deadly raid of a Gaza-bound aid flotilla — and allowed in consumer goods. But growth is elusive because Israel, citing security concerns, restricts the import of construction supplies and key raw materials, and forbids most exports.

Yeah, the siege has not ended in the slightest sense -- but you WON'T READ THAT in the AmeriKan newspaper!

Instead you will SEE THIS SLOP:

Israel and Egypt shut Gaza’s borders in 2007 after Hamas, an Iranian-backed group that has fired thousands of rockets at Israel, seized the territory....

All right, THAT''S IT!

That is where I STOP READING the BULLS***!

--more--"

Sigh:

"Hamas overwhelmingly won Palestinian Parliament elections in 2006....  Hamas won Palestinian parliamentary elections in early 2006....  In 2006, Hamas won Palestinian legislative elections

That's a SEIZURE, huh?

Btw, Hamas foiled a COUP ATTEMPT!!!!

And -- of course -- NOT ONE WORD about ISRAEL'S USE of WMDs and its OTHER WAR CRIMES in GAZA!

Thanks again for the REPEATED OMISSIONS and LIES, AmeriKan media.

Thus they are NOT TO BE BELIEVED on any matter -- especially ALL THINGS ISRAEL!!!
