Nakba a Nightmare For Israel

Well, it has been for the Palestinians for over 63 years and counting....

"Rallies support Palestinians; Events in Jordan, Egypt back state, right of return" May 14, 2011|By Dale Gavlak, Associated Press

AMMAN, Jordan — Thousands rallied in support of Palestinians yesterday, with demonstrators in Jordan’s capital heeding a call by Facebook organizers to demand a sovereign Palestinian state, others near the Jordanian-Israeli border chanting “Death to Israel,’’ and still more activists filling Cairo’s Tahrir Square.

You sure you got that translation right?

Palestinian youth groups called for protests in the West Bank and nearby Arab countries to mark the anniversary of the May 15, 1948, creation of the Jewish state. Palestinians call the anniversary the day of catastrophe because of the refugee crisis and loss of land that accompanied the creation of Israel.

A catastrophe that continues to this day.

About 500 protesters, demanding a sovereign Palestinian state and the right of refugees to return home, marched in Amman’s downtown market district, some wearing Palestinian black and white kaffiyehs or headscarves and holding keys to family homes left behind.

There is no denying it now. That's why the newspaper reads like s***.

In Cairo, thousands rallied, beginning a Facebook-generated campaign aimed at marching on the borders of the Palestinian territories.

Egypt’s powerful Muslim Brotherhood backed yesterday’s demonstration but did not favor a march to the borders. On Thursday, Egypt’s ruling Military Council called on organizers to cancel the march.

A few protesters who drove to North Sinai to reach the Gaza border said they were turned back by authorities.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrations are not unusual in Jordan or Egypt, but marches solicited on Facebook are. Organizers are apparently inspired by the uprisings in Egypt and other Arab countries that were heavily dependent on mobilization through social networking sites.

In Cairo, where the protest was also called to denounce recent Muslim-Christian violence, Palestinian flags filled the square.

“This protest is not about forming an army and heading to Gaza. It is about pressuring our officials to support the Palestinians’ demands.’’

Speaking of dreams:

"Mitchell resigns as US envoy in Mideast; Move comes as Israeli-Palestinian talks at standstill" by Steven Lee Myers, New York Times / May 14, 2011

WASHINGTON —The news of Mitchell’s departure, while not a surprise, broke at an awkward time. His resignation is effective Friday, the same day Obama will meet at the White House with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, with whom the president has had an icy, if polite, relationship. Yet the date on Mitchell’s brief resignation letter, which the White House released late yesterday afternoon, was April 6, five weeks ago....

Not exactly news, is it?

The Middle East has been transformed by popular uprisings that toppled aging autocrats in Tunisia and Egypt, prompted a NATO-led air war against Libya, and led to harsh crackdowns in Syria and Bahrain.

The White House announced that Obama will address the region in the wake of the upheaval and the death of Osama bin Laden in a speech Thursday at the State Department. Obama was also scheduled to meet Tuesday with King Abdullah II of Jordan....

For his part, the Israeli prime minister will visit Washington in search of support for heading off Palestinian plans to seek a vote in September at the UN General Assembly recognizing an independent Palestine with territory that includes all of the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem. He has made it clear that the turmoil in the region has heightened his country’s security concerns, making a negotiated peace an unacceptably risky gamble for now.

"Jerusalem clashes follow teen’s death" by Associated Press / May 15, 2011

JERUSALEM — Masked Palestinians whirling slingshots clashed with Israeli riot police in Jerusalem yesterday after the shooting death of a teenage stone thrower, a sign of rising tensions on the eve of Palestinian commemorations of their uprooting during Israel’s 1948 creation. President Obama is scheduled to deliver a Mideast policy speech this week."

And then Israel mowed more down:

"Protests all around Israel’s borders turn deadly; Its anniversary is protested by Palestinians" by Ethan Bronner, New York Times / May 16, 2011

Which borders would those be because Israel refuses to say what they are and they are always adding to them?

JERUSALEM — Israel’s borders erupted in deadly clashes yesterday as thousands of Palestinians — marching from Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bankconfronted Israeli troops to mark the anniversary of Israel’s creation. At least 15 people were reported killed and scores injured.

So Israel -- like all those U.S.-allied Arab dictators -- opened fire on protesters, huh?

With an unprecedented wave of coordinated protests, the popular uprisings that have swept the region for the first time touched Israel directly.

Well, ISRAEL has CREATED ITS BED so it can REP the CONSEQUENCES!

Like those other protests, plans for this one spread over social media, including Facebook, but there were also signs of official support in Lebanon and Syria, where analysts said leaders were using the Palestinian cause to deflect attention from internal problems.

Of course, if the USrael does that in Syria, Iran, or Libya it is OBFUSCATED and IGNORED in the agenda-driving Zionist War Media!

At the Lebanese border, Israeli troops shot at hundreds of Palestinians trying to force their way across. The Lebanese military said 10 protesters were killed and more than 100 were wounded; Israel said it was investigating the casualty figures.

In the Golan Heights, about 100 Palestinians living in Syria breached a border fence and crowded into the village of Majdal Shams, waving Palestinian flags. Troops fired on the crowd, killing four of them.

I expect Obama to announce a no-fly zone to protect civilians and begin the bombing of Israel, including Netanyahu's quarters.

In the West Bank, about 1,000 protesters carrying Palestinian flags and throwing stones and occasional firecrackers and Molotov cocktails tangled with Israeli riot troops near the military checkpoint between Ramallah and Israel. Scores were injured, local medical officials said.

In Gaza, when marchers crossed a security zone near the border, Israeli troops fired into the crowd. Palestinian medics said 125 people were wounded. Later, in a separate incident, an 18-year-old Gazan near another part of the border fence was shot and killed by Israeli troops when, the Israeli military says, he was trying to plant an explosive.

As you can probably tell, I no longer listen to what the Israeli military or its mouthpiece AmeriKan media say.

In Jordan and Egypt, protesters setting off for the border were thwarted by government security forces.

Every year in mid-May, many Palestinians mark what they call the nakba, or catastrophe, the anniversary of Israel’s declaration of independence in 1948 and the war in which hundreds of thousands of Palestinians lost their homes through expulsion and flight.

By ZIONIST TERROR ORGANIZATIONS!

But this was the first year that Palestinian refugees and their supporters in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt — inspired by the recent protests around the Arab world — tried to breach Israel’s military border from all sides....

And ISRAEL is S***ting bricks right now!

At day’s end, as a tense calm returned to the country’s borders, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel said the protests had been aimed at destroying Israel, not creating a Palestinian state alongside it.

THERE THEY GO AGAIN with the EXTREME HYPERBOLE!

It is the KIND OF BEHAVIOR that MAKES ONE NOT LISTEN to a person anymore!

You know, the same as my relationship with the Boston Globe these days.

“The leaders of these violent demonstrations, their struggle is not over the 1967 borders but over the very existence of Israel, which they describe as a catastrophe that must be resolved,’’ he said in a televised statement. “It is important that we look with open eyes at the reality.’’

And you will NOT BE FINDING THAT through the ZIONIST PRISM of an AmeriKan newspaper!

Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian authority, saluted the protesters in a televised speech, referring to the dead as martyrs. “The blood of the nakba fatalities was not spilled in vain,’’ he said. “They died for the Palestinian people’s rights and freedom.’’

And I can not imagine a more honorable death.

Officials and analysts have argued that with peace talks broken down and plans for a request of the United Nations to declare Palestinian statehood in September, violence could return to define this conflict, which has been relatively quiet for the past two years.

Relative to what (as if the conflict was not defined by violence)?

Israel declared its independence on May 14, 1948. Israelis celebrate the anniversary according to the Hebrew calendar, which this year was last Tuesday.

Hundreds of Israeli troops roamed the Ramallah area yesterday using stun guns and tear gas.

In Gaza, the Hamas police stopped buses carrying protesters near the main crossing into Israel, but dozens of demonstrators continued on foot, arriving at a point closer to the Israeli border than they had reached in years and drawing Israeli fire.

Then WHY is ISRAEL COMPLAINING about Hamas?

At the Syrian border, an Israeli military spokesman said, troops fired only at infiltrators trying to damage the security barrier and equipment there. Some 13 Israeli soldiers were wounded from thrown rocks.

The chief Israeli military spokesman, Brigadier General Yoav Mordechai, said on Israel Radio that he saw Iran’s fingerprints in the coordinated confrontations although he offered no evidence.

Sigh.

I am SO SICK of the ENDLESS WAR PROPAGANDA put forth by ISRAEL!!

Go DO THIS ONE YOURSELVES, assholes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Ex-Mossad chief warns against Iran strike " by New York Times / May 9, 2011

JERUSALEM — Israel’s former intelligence chief has said that a strike on Iran’s nuclear installations would be “a stupid idea,’’ pointing out that military action might not achieve all of its goals and could lead to a long war....

Nevertheless, some want that war.

The defense minister, Ehud Barak, criticized Dagan after his comments were widely publicized in the Israeli news media yesterday.

Barak, saying that Dagan deserved credit for his contributions to state security, contended that he was “not wise to share his thoughts, legitimate as they may be,’’ with the general public.

I thought Israel was the lone democracy in the Middle East, blah, blah, blah?  Why are they behaving exactly like the Arabs and Muslims they claim to be afraid of?

“In the end of the day, these issues and decisions belong by their nature to the political echelon,’’ Barak said....

Independent analysts said that such a public stand by a respected figure like Dagan would complicate any plans the government might have to attack Iran....

"Palestinian president declares three days of mourning; Abbas honors 15 killed in marches to Israeli borders" by Mohammed Daraghmeh, Associated Press / May 17, 2011

RAMALLAH, West Bank — The Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, yesterday declared three days of mourning for 15 people killed in mass marches toward multiple Israeli borders that marked a stunning new tactic in the struggle for Palestinian statehood.

Sunday’s marches, on the date Palestinians mourn their uprooting as a result of Israel’s 1948 creation, illustrated Arab dissatisfaction with the deadlocked efforts to establish a Palestinian state.

See: Uprooted Palestinians

The unprecedented tactic also reflected an Arab world emboldened by the antigovernment protests sweeping the Middle East this year.

Like I have said in the past, even if the USraeli power structure started them they have spun way out of control!

Abbas, who is pursuing alternative routes to statehood after a breakdown in peace talks with Israel, quickly embraced those who tried to breach Israel’s borders from the West Bank, Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan.

I think the whole world outside of Zionists and their servants did.

“Their blood will not be spilled in vain, because their blood was spilled for the freedom and rights of our people,’’ he said.

Some in Israel suspected an Iranian hand in the attempted border breaches with the help of Tehran’s allies in the region: Syria, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Hamas in Gaza. That view was backed by the White House, which blamed Syria for inciting the protests that Israelis repelled with deadly force.

UN-FLIPPING-REAL!

Did the U.S. also jam its tongue up Israel's ass?

Speaking aboard Air Force One, White House press secretary Jay Carney called Syria’s behavior unacceptable and said the unrest was intended to draw attention from the Syrian government’s violent crackdown on its own people who are pushing for reforms.

Talk about SINGLING SOMEONE OUT!!!

Oh, but that is OKAY, OBFUSCATED, and OBSCURED by my newspaper!

Palestinian officials said the marches were a purely Palestinian initiative, organized on Facebook by activists, many living in exile.

Israel said it would file a complaint against Syria and Lebanon at the United Nations.

That is real chutzpah!

Israeli security forces were out in large numbers in northern Israel, having been taken by surprise Sunday. As of late yesterday, the border areas were quiet....

Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, questioned the Palestinian commitment to peace after Sunday’s confrontations along Israel’s borders. He also noted Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh’s calls for the end of the “Zionist enterprise.’’

I'm surprised any time I see the word Zionist in the newspaper.
