"Bill de Blasio tops poll in NYC mayor race" Associated Press, August 14, 2013
NEW YORK — The topsy-turvy Democratic campaign for mayor of New York took another twist on Tuesday as a new poll found that Public Advocate Bill de Blasio had surged to the lead for the first time.
De Blasio was an afterthought for many months of the campaign but has seen his support double among likely Democratic voters in less than a month, according to a survey released by Quinnipiac University on Tuesday. He now clocks in at 30 percent, moving past former front-runner Christine Quinn.
Quinn is Bloomberg's hand-picked successor, so she tops out at about 25% among Democrats.
Quinn, the City Council speaker, is at 24 percent, followed by former comptroller Bill Thompson at 22 percent, former US representative Anthony Weiner at 10 percent, and Comptroller John Liu at 6 percent.
Wow, Weiner's poll pull left him limp!

Blue-ball the f***er!
De Blasio, the most liberal member of the Democratic field and a vocal critic of independent Mayor Michael Bloomberg, was polling at 15 percent in Quinnipiac’s survey on July 24.
I'm liking him more each sentence!
But in the last three weeks he released his first television ad, put his multiracial family at the center of his campaign, and received largely favorable media coverage for his fight to save an endangered Brooklyn hospital.
Oh, I like the multiracial family thing!! It's good, it's good!
As for the media coverage, well, they don't want some scum shit being elected mayor of the city. Looks bad.
De Blasio also has benefited from the collapse of Weiner’s candidacy following the former congressman’s latest sexting scandal. Weiner was at 26 percent in that July 24 poll, which was taken just days after he revealed that he had continued to trade illicit online messages with women after resigning from Congress due to similar behavior.
Gee, that's funny. The drop in Weiner (ha-ha-ha) coincides with the rise by Blasio.

"Mayor’s response to recall bid omits harassment accusations" by Julie Watson | Associated Press, August 14, 2013
SAN DIEGO — Mayor Bob Filner of San Diego responded to a recall effort over sexual
harassment allegations by pointing to progress he said the city has made during his term.
I see the therapy isn't helping.
How do you treat arrogance anyway?
Filner made no mention of the accusations in a written statement addressed to the city clerk’s office Monday to meet a deadline under the municipal code.
Instead, the city’s first Democratic mayor in two decades highlighted economic, environmental, and job-creating projects that he has launched since his election in November.
Yeah, so let's overlook making women you worked with uncomfortable.
The recall effort could legally proceed even if Filner missed the deadline, but now his response will be included on the petitions expected to begin circulating next week.
Filner pointed out a five-year labor agreement for city employees.
He's counting on union support!
He said his administration is working on expansion plans for the city’s convention center that will generate thousands of local jobs and on a proposal to try to bring the 2024 summer Olympics to San Diego and neighboring Tijuana, Mexico.
That's how many years away, even if you want them disrupting your town.
More than a dozen women have accused the 70-year-old former congressman of making unwanted advances, such as inappropriate statements or groping.
I didn't know it was that many.
There have been numerous calls for Filner to resign.
Several businesses — including four Hooters restaurant locations — have posted signs from a radio talk show campaign stating that the establishments will not serve the mayor because ‘‘we believe women should be treated with respect.’’
As long as they have big boobs and will run around in tight-fitting, skimpy clothing.
