Sunday Globe Special: Hernandez's Honey Helped With Hurry-Up Offense

"Investigators take closer look at Hernandez’s fiancée" by Wesley Lowery |  Globe Staff, August 11, 2013

New court documents released Friday in Bristol, Conn., show that investigators are looking into whether the fiancée of former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez assisted in disposing of weapons after the killing of his acquaintance, Odin Lloyd, in June, the Hartford Courant reported on Friday.

According to the Courant, the documents indicate that investigators searched a storage unit rented to Shayanna Jenkins, Hernandez’s fiancée, and they allege she made “overt attempts to hide evidence . . . and to hinder and mislead” the investigation into the death of Lloyd....

Jenkins, who has a daughter with Hernandez, has been present at the former Patriot’s court hearings but has not spoken to the media.

She has not been charged in connection to Lloyd’s death.

The documents allege that surveillance video shows Jenkins leaving Hernandez’s home on June 18 carrying a trash bag containing a heavy “rigid object” resembling a lock box or safe, according to the Courant.

The documents also cite cryptic text messages between Hernandez and Jenkins on the day after Lloyd’s body was found that mention a box in the basement of their shared home.

Searches of Hernandez’s basement and of the Bristol storage unit did not produce the murder weapon, which has yet to be found.

Looks like they found the connections in the Hernandez case.
