Obama the Racist

Or the militarist, take your pick:

"Obama sidesteps Civil War discord, lauds US soldiers; President pays tribute to those still sacrificing" by Darlene Superville, Associated Press | May 26, 2009

WASHINGTON - President Obama avoided a racial controversy on his first Memorial Day in office by sending wreaths to separate memorials for Confederate soldiers and for blacks who fought against them during the Civil War.

Last week, a group of about 60 professors petitioned the White House, asking the first black US president to break tradition and not memorialize military members from the Confederacy.

You know, at the risk of being branded a 'racist' it is MY RECOLLECTION that SOUTHERN SOLDIERS have FOUGHT in ALL the OTHER WARS!!!

You know, the Civil War is part of our history and the Zionist indoctrination we call ejerkashen and media around here worked on me for a long time. It made me a self-hating white person (not anymore, thank you) and prejudiced against southerners (again, no longer).

What you learn is history is more complex than what we were told in our state schools and more often than not we were taught lies.

"The Arlington Confederate Monument is a denial of the wrong committed against African-Americans by slave owners, Confederates and neo-Confederates, through the monument's denial of slavery as the cause of secession and its holding up of Confederates as heroes," the petitioners said. "This implies that the humanity of Africans and African-Americans is of no significance."

Look, NO ONE is DEFENDING SLAVERY or SEGREGATION!!

On the other hand, the REAL AIMS of the WAR were PRIMARILY ECONOMIC! Lincoln -- in keeping the union together -- wanted access to the cheap raw materials of the South for northern textile mills. He also met with black leaders and told them they had to get out of here.

So don't wax all moral about the past, please. "Confederate" soldiers fought in WW I and II, right?

The White House ignored the request.

Pissing off another constituency?

Obama had a wreath sent to the Confederate Memorial, a traditional practice but not well publicized. Obama also took the unprecedented step of sending a wreath to the African American Civil War Memorial in Washington's historically black U Street neighborhood.

Was never an issue until now? Oooooh, STINK! Talk about dragging up the divisive race card! Any excuse at all, huh, MSM?

That memorial - to the 200,000 blacks who fought for the North during the Civil War - had been mentioned as a compromise in recent days. Presidents traditionally visit Arlington to leave a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns, a marble structure holding the remains of unidentified US service members who died during war.

I've visited it.

Presidents then have aides deliver wreaths to other memorials or monuments, generally including the Confederate Memorial. Wreaths were also left yesterday at memorials to the USS Maine and the Spanish American War.

The Southern soldiers also fight in that imperialistic endeavor?

Oh, now he turns into a militarist:

In brief but solemn remarks after he laid the wreath at Arlington and observed a moment of silence, Obama saluted the men and women of America's fighting forces, both living and dead, as "the best of America."

I don't know. They have done a lot of questionable things in the name of empire these last few years -- and, in fact, a lot longer than that.

"Why in an age when so many have acted only in pursuit of narrowest self-interest have the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines of this generation volunteered all that they have on behalf of others?" he said. "Why have they been willing to bear the heaviest burden?

Then government craps on 'em when they get home with the health care and other things. And whose he referring to above? I'm thinking war-profiteers, Wall Street looters, politicians.

"Whatever it is, they felt some tug. They answered a call. They said 'I'll go.' That is why they are the best of America," Obama said. "That is what separates them from those who have not served in uniform, their extraordinary willingness to risk their lives for people they never met."

Translation: they believed the war lies.

The president, who did not serve in the military unlike many of those in the audience, Obama said he can't know what it's like to walk into battle or lose a child. "But I do know this. I am humbled to be the commander in chief of the finest fighting force in the history of the world," he said to applause.

What hubris.

You sure about that, Bush, 'er, bamer??

--more--"

Well, the only answer for us, America, is to JETTISON the WAR WORSHIP; PROFUSELY APOLOGIZE to those we have wronged with our lies and BEG THEIR FORGIVENESS; and then COME HOME!!!!!!!
