Lying Looters Large and Small: The Lynnfield Looter

About as local as you can get. Just around the corner, right?

"Former clerk gets 6 months for stealing

A former clerk in the Town of Lynnfield Tax Collector’s Office pleaded guilty yesterday to stealing $11,407 from town funds between 2007 and 2008.

Nice use of tax dollars.

In Peabody District Court, Judge James O’Leary sentenced Ann Marie Toland-Francey of Stoneham to six months, suspended for two years. The 40-year-old mother of two also was ordered to make full restitution. The judge ordered her retirement account ($9,853), frozen since the theft was discovered by town employees in December, turned over to the town. She was ordered to pay the remaining $1,554 over 12 months, and to stay away from Town Hall. According to a release from District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett’s office, Toland-Francey told investigators that she pocketed cash payments that residents and businesses made for their tax bills, and later used an extra key to enter the town treasurer’s office after hours and alter tax documents to cover up her scheme.

Maybe Massachusetts should start getting rid of some of the taxes, huh?

NOTHING to STEAL if their is NO TAX LOOT LYING AROUND!

Wouldn't that money be BETTER OFF in YOUR OWN POCKET, Bay Stater?
