Deja Vu, Massachusetts!

"Unemployment at 33-year high; insurance fund running dry" by Kay Lazar and Robert Gavin, Globe Staff | October 16, 2009

.... The jobless rate rose to 9.3 percent in September from 9.1 percent in August, exceeding the peak rate reached during the deep New England recession of the early 1990s, according to the Office of Labor and Workforce Development. It is the highest rate since 1976, when Massachusetts was recovering from a recession spurred by soaring energy prices following the Arab oil embargo and the collapse of traditional manufacturing industries.

And HERE YOU ARE AGAIN, Bay Staters!

While many economists think the US and Massachusetts economies are pulling out of the latest recession, unemployment often continues to rise after a recovery has begun.

Then it is NOT A RECOVERY, jerk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Businesses are wary of early signs that the economy is turning around and don’t start to hire aggressively again until they are persuaded that a rebound is real and lasting. The numbers outlined yesterday suggest it will be at least 2011 before the financial outlook for unemployment funds is more positive....

So this GAVIN GUY is just the Globe's BULLSHIT-THROWING SHILL, huh?

What were you saying, s***ter?

Unemployment in Massachusetts has reached its highest level since the 1970s, officials said yesterday as they also disclosed that the state will exhaust a fund that helps laid-off workers pay for health insurance by the end of next month. State officials said they are considering a number of emergency measures, including imposing higher costs on the unemployed and raising fees on employers, to close a gap that could exceed $50 million by April.

Well, HOW IN the HELL can an UNEMPLOYED PERSON PAY HIGHER COSTS, you LOOTING FUCKS?!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Massachusetts' Business Tax Increase Was a Corporate Tax Cut

Oh, BUSINESS got a CUT, huh?

And MAYBE if PARTNERS wasn't GOUGING YOU, huh?

Yeah, funny how THAT got TURNED OFF!

Every option is on the table,’’ Labor and Workforce Development Secretary Suzanne Bump said in an interview after her staff briefed an advisory board of labor and business leaders yesterday. “Nothing stays the same.’’

Except CORPORATE WELFARE and INTEREST PAYMENTS to BANKS!

In fact, they INCREASE!

The unrelenting rise in unemployment will also trigger an automatic 40 percent increase in the tax businesses are required to contribute for unemployment benefits....

Yeah, businesses are not on their backs enough around here; let's SLAP A HIGHER TAX on them!

Why not? That is the ONLY THING this s***-hole legislature knows!!!!

Without changes, the Medical Security Trust Fund, the pool of money that pays for health insurance for the unemployed, will end this year $6.2 million in the red and next year $84.9 million in deficit....

The program’s finances have been strained by both the number of unemployed and the length of time many people have been out of work. Before the recession, laid-off workers were allowed to collect unemployment benefits for up to 30 weeks in Massachusetts, but as the downturn dragged on, Congress increased that period to 79 weeks, and it is now considering extending it beyond 90 weeks....

But we are in recovery, in recovery, in recovery!

Bump said the state will convene meetings next week with labor and business leaders and health advocates to craft short-term fixes to keep the program from going broke. “We haven’t been able to find one single thing to close this gap, it’s too big,’’ said Sarah O’Toole, one of Bump’s chiefs of staff. “This will require all stakeholders to make concessions.’’

Except YOU-KNOW-WHO, readers!

Proposals outlined yesterday included requiring the unemployed to shoulder more of the costs for doctors’ visits, prescription drugs, and other treatments, a suggestion that drew sharp criticism from health advocates....

In a letter sent Wednesday to Governor Deval Patrick, a coalition of health and labor groups wrote that state leaders have diverted $209 million from the Medical Security Trust Fund since 2001 to close budget gaps, including $15 million Patrick withdrew last year.

Oh, it is GOING BROKE because the STATE STOLE the FUND to FILL BUDGET GAPS, huh?

“Had these funds remained in place, the Medical Security Trust Fund would not be jeopardized,’’ the letter said. State figures show that in November 2001, before money was diverted, there was $150.8 million in the fund, which rises during boom times. In December 2007, just before the recession hit, the balance was $82.4 million. Businesses pay $16.80 per employee, per year into the Trust Fund, a tax that hasn’t been raised since 1990. Health advocates say it’s only fair to make business pay more now.

Why? So the LOOTING GOVERNMENT can GIVE IT AWAY to FAVORED INTERESTS?

But Brian Gilmore, spokesman for Associated Industries of Massachusetts, the state’s largest business trade group, said Massachusetts should eliminate the Medical Security Trust Fund, as well as the taxes paid by businesses, because the program is no longer necessary. He said the state’s universal health care law provides subsidies for health insurance for lower-income families, while the federal stimulus legislation provides health insurance subsidies to laid-off workers.

Massachusetts businesses already pay some of the highest unemployment insurance costs in the nation, before the increase going into effect next year, and the state should not add further costs, Gilmore said.

Yeah, and it is STILL NOT ENOUGH!!!!

The state is like a DRUG ADDICT, only the ADDICTION is YOUR TAX LOOT!!!!

“Increasing non-wage employment costs really discourages employers from hiring people,’’ he said. “The economy is improving, but is still very fragile.’’

You know, I guess that is why we got NOTHING from the "stimulus!"

Slow Saturday Special: State Slow on Stimulus Spending

Yeah, because WE PLUG BUDGET DEFICITS with it!

WASHINGTON - Businesses reported creating or saving more than 30,000 jobs in the first months of President Obama’s stimulus program, with military construction leading the way and states in the South and Southwest seeing the biggest boost, a government oversight board said yesterday....

Oh, so it was a MILITARY STIMULUS, huh? That is where ALL YOUR TAX LOOT is going, America -- to BANKS, WAR-PROFITEERS, and CORPORATIONS!

New England fared poorly, with fewer than 750 jobs reported across the region....

That's like a drop of piss in an ocean!

Since signing the stimulus in February, Obama has watched the economy shed millions of jobs. The White House says things would have been far worse without the stimulus.

Yeah, and WAIT UNTIL the INTEREST is DUE on all that BORROWED MONEY!

I AIN'T GONNA BE WORTH IT THEN because THIS "stimulus" is DESTROYING YOUR DOLLAR, 'murkn!

"The dollar has lost value to other major currencies as the federal government pumped money into stimulus programs"

WAS IT WORTH IT, America?

In the short term, the most significant thing about the job numbers might be that they exist at all. The government has never before attempted to track the effects, in real time, of a huge public program.

Translation: This LYING, SELF-SERVING GOVERNMENT is going to PUT OUT NUMBERS that CONTRADICT EVERYTHING YOU SEE AROUND YOU, America!!!

Yeah, that's change!
