Around Asia: Coming Out of the Woodwork in the Phillipines

Nope, not "terrorists,' readers.

Another controlled-opposition front.

"Ambush by rebels kills 11 soldiers

MANILA - Communist rebels ambushed a Philippine Army platoon south of Manila yesterday, killing at least 11 soldiers and wounding seven others in one of the military’s largest recent losses, an army spokesman said.

Communists?

Co -- cough, cough -- Communists?

Ha... ha... ha.. ha, ha, ha, HA, HA, HA, HA!!

C'mon! That's the best you can come up with for bogeymen?

Are there any of those guys even around anymore?

I mean, even the Communists are Capitalists these days!

About 60 New People’s Army guerrillas who ambushed the soldiers outside Mansalay township in Mindoro Oriental province also are thought to have suffered casualties, said Lieutenant Colonel Noel Detoyato, spokesman for the army’s Second Infantry Division. It was the biggest loss for the army in a single encounter with the rebels this year (AP)."

Must not have been to severe since Glob dropped it quick.
