An Anti-Incumbent Kind Mood in Massachusetts

Right down to the School Committee:

"School Committee incumbent loses race

Richard Hebert, a former president of the Scituate teachers union, defeated incumbent Michele Morrissey Smith for a three-year seat on the Scituate School Committee. According to unofficial figures released by the town clerk, the vote was 1,273 to 820 in Hebert’s favor. In the only other contest in yesterday’s annual town election, incumbent Selectman John Danehy defeated Ann Burbine, 1,411 to 655, for a three-year term on the Board of Selectmen.

That must be the exception to the rule.
