Clinton Issues Clarion Call For Korean War

I find the woman to be an embarrassing war-monger, folks.

Just one American's opinion.

"Clinton warns North Korea; Says it will face ‘consequences’ for sinking ship" by Mark Landler, New York Times | May 22, 2010

SHANGHAI — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton warned North Korea yesterday that it would face “consequences’’ for sinking a South Korean warship in March, as she set off on an intense round of shuttle diplomacy in Asia to muster an international response.

“It is important to send a clear message to North Korea that provocative actions have consequences,’’ Clinton said after meeting in Tokyo with the Japanese foreign minister, Katsuya Okada. “We cannot allow this attack on South Korea to go unanswered by the international community.’’

Yeah, we ONLY DO THAT for ISRAEL!!!

****************

Other administration officials said they included action by the United Nations Security Council and joint American-South Korean naval exercises that could include antisubmarine warfare patrols. South Korea is also likely to squeeze the North economically by reducing trade ties.

Clinton, who flew to Shanghai later yesterday, will consult with Chinese officials in Shanghai and Beijing on the matter. China’s support is considered crucial, both because it holds a veto in the Security Council and because it is North Korea’s neighbor and the principal supporter of the North’s leader, Kim Jong-Il. So far, China has been reluctant to condemn North Korea for the torpedo attack on the 1,200-ton corvette, the Cheonan — a reticence that has outraged many in South Korea.

The escalating tensions between North and South Korea have scrambled what had been planned as three days of economic and security talks between China and the United States in Beijing next week. Now, those discussions will be partly eclipsed by what a senior American official characterized as the greatest military provocation on the Korean Peninsula in decades....

Huh.

North Korea really helped out AmeriKa there.

While Clinton tours the American pavilion on the vast fairgrounds of the Shanghai Expo this weekend, her aides will be huddling elsewhere, making the case that China must back punitive measures against the North.

FLASHBACK:

"Clinton boosts chances of US presence at Shanghai Expo; Fund-raising effort has netted $54m for pavilion" by Mark Landler and David Barboza, New York Times | January 3, 2010

WASHINGTON - This time, the cash-starved beneficiary was not her own campaign but the United States, which needed $61 million to finance the construction of a national pavilion at a world’s fair in Shanghai....

She turned to her well-established network of Clinton fund-raisers, and after negotiating with the State Department’s lawyers about what she could legally do herself to support the project, she mounted an ambitious fund-raising campaign that has netted nearly $54 million in barely nine months.

As America's economy goes down the dumper!!!!

With multimillion-dollar pledges from PepsiCo, General Electric, Chevron, and other US corporations, the United States is on track to open a sleek, 60,000-square-foot pavilion at the Shanghai Expo 2010, which runs from May through October. The prospect of the nation’s chief diplomat asking for money worried government lawyers, according to officials....

Despite those restrictions, and a dismal economy, Clinton is closing in on her $61 million goal. She is clearly proud of the effort, which staved off what could have been a rupture in American-Chinese relations.

That's all it took with all the other issues?

Chinese seem a bit naive and easy to please (as well as sensitive), 'eh, America?

So says your racist, divisive, Zionist War Daily anyway.

In a year in which she has mostly worked to prove herself a loyal member of the Obama team, the campaign also showcases her enduring political drawing power....

I assume there will not be a women's rights booth?

By all accounts, the effort to build a national pavilion was near death at the end of the Bush administration. The near-collapse of the global economy, the proximity of the expo to the Beijing Olympics in 2008, and the general ambivalence of the State Department toward these events had left USA Pavilion, the nonprofit group in charge of the project, with little money.

“There is a sense in the US that Americans got disenchanted’’ with world’s fairs, said Nick Winslow, a former Warner Bros. theme park executive who is the president of USA Pavilion.

With deadlines passing, the Chinese advanced the Americans money to conduct technical work for the pavilion. They raised the issue with former president Jimmy Carter when he visited China last January, pressing him to get a message to President Obama. Enter Clinton, who made her first trip as secretary of state to Beijing in February and was eager to talk about trade, climate change, and the North Korean nuclear threat. Instead, she got an earful about how bad it would be if the United States did not have a presence at the expo.

I didn't see that reported at the time, NYT.

For the Chinese, the expo is a bookend to the Olympics. Shanghai is spending $45 billion to transform the city, even more than Beijing spent preparing for the games. Nearly 200 countries have signed on to take part, leaving only the United States and Andorra as potential no-shows.

Then we BETTER GO!! That would be a COLOSSAL INSULT to the Chinese!

“I was dumbfounded that so little attention had been paid to it,’’ Clinton said. “Everyone knows China is going to be an enormously powerful player in the 21st century. They have an expo, which is a kind of rite of passage that countries like to do to show they have arrived. We’re not there? What does that say? I mean, it would have been a terrible message.’’

The last time the United States took part in a world’s fair, in Aichi, Japan, in 2005, half the cost of the national pavilion was underwritten by Toyota.

Fred Wertheimer, a political fund-raising specialist, said he was satisfied that a difficult situation was handled properly.

“This appears to be an effort by the State Department to deal with a complicated diplomatic problem rather than some kind of inappropriate conduct,’’ he said. “It would have been far better if the US government was able to pay for the activity involved, but that does not appear to have been the case.’’

Why should OVERBURDENED and TAPPED OUT U.S TAXPAYERS pay for this?

And how come we never read another word about the World's Fair, Glob?

The administration finds itself in a delicate spot: orchestrating international support for South Korea while also deferring to Lee on the timing and nature of the response. The United States is wary of aggravating an already tense situation; North Korea, which denies the torpedo attack, threatened to respond to military retaliation with “all-out war.’’

Which is just what the U.S. WANTS!

Of course, that is not the way the lying war-promoters tell it.

"China pressed to punish North Korea for ship attack; US also seeks Beijing’s backing on Iran sanctions" by Mark Landler, New York Times | May 24, 2010

BEIJING — The United States began pressing China yesterday to back punitive measures against North Korea for its apparent sinking of a South Korean warship, but American officials acknowledged that the Chinese were reluctant to discipline their isolated neighbor.

South Korea, with the backing of the United States and Japan, is expected today to push for a Security Council resolution condemning the attack. China’s support is viewed as crucial because it holds a veto in the council and because it exerts influence over North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-il.

Kicking off several days of high-level economic and security meetings here, the United States also sought to nail down Chinese support for United Nations sanctions against Iran that would designate individuals and companies with ties to Iran’s nuclear and missile programs.

Is THAT GOING to be the REAL ATTACK as opposed to this DIVERSION?

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, in meetings with Chinese leaders, raised the South Korean government report that formally accused the North of torpedoing the ship, the Cheonan, in March, killing 46 sailors....

An international investigative team made up of civilians and military officials issued a report Thursday concluding that a North Korean submarine fired a homing torpedo at the Cheonan, breaking it in two. North Korea has denied any role in the sinking....

North Korea yesterday threatened to “crush’’ South Korea and said the investigative report was fabricated to justify the South’s attempt to invade the North in collaboration with the United States, the Associated Press reported.

Yes, HOW SAD for America that is the LIKELY TRUTH!

On Iran, the United States is pushing to get China’s support for annexes to a draft Security Council resolution that would impose a fourth set of sanctions on Tehran for its defiance of United Nations nuclear inspectors. Those annexes single out individuals and companies — many affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps — with ties to the nuclear program.

Last Tuesday, Clinton announced that China had joined the United States, Russia, Britain, France, and Germany in backing additional sanctions against Iran. But there are still unresolved issues relating to China’s extensive investments in Iran’s oil and gas industries.

Yes, AmeriKa, your MSM and GOVERNMENT LIE TO YOU ALL the TIME!!!!

Clinton, the official said, wanted to be “clear about what our expectations are and how to make sure we get across the finish line.’’

Nearly 200 American officials have converged on Beijing, the largest such group ever to come to the Chinese capital. Clinton is jointly heading the delegation with Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner, who met yesterday with Wang Qishan, the vice premier for economic policy....

BEIJING — The Obama administration announced yesterday that it would bolster South Korea’s defenses and initiate joint military exercises with Seoul because of growing tensions with the North....

Empire IN DEEPER when we SHOULD BE LEAVING, cui bono?

In twin announcements, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and the White House said US forces in South Korea had been directed to “coordinate closely with their Korean counterparts to ensure readiness and to deter future aggression.’’

“US support for South Korea’s defense is unequivocal,’’ the White House statement said.

Clinton, who opened two days of trade and strategic talks with Chinese officials in Beijing, said the United States is trying to stabilize the Korean situation.

Translation: They are trying to destabilize.

That is how you need to read the AmeriKan newspaper now.

“We are working hard to avoid an escalation of belligerence and provocation,’’ Clinton told reporters. “This is a highly precarious situation that the North Koreans have caused in the region. And it is one that every country that neighbors or is in proximity to North Korea understands must be contained.’’

The ISRAELI FALSE FLAG WORKED, huh?

Seoul has steered clear of threatening specific military retaliation since blaming the North for the March 26 attack on its warship, which left 46 South Korean sailors dead. Still, moves by both the South and the United States make clear that they are including a significant military component to their response.

The South Korean defense minister, Kim Tae-young, said yesterday that his country would launch a joint antisubmarine military exercise with the United States. South Korea also will join a US-led antiproliferation program, known as the Proliferation of Security Initiative, which it had previously been reluctant to take part in to avoid provoking the North.

And CUI BONO, 'eh?

Additionally, Lee Myung-bak, South Korea’s president, vowed that his country’s military would learn from the mistakes that allowed what was believed to be a North Korean mini-submarine to approach the Cheonan and split it in two with a torpedo.

“The discipline of the armed forces will be reestablished, military reform efforts will be expedited, and combat capabilities will be reinforced drastically,’’ Lee said in a speech to the nation yesterday.

He said that the US-Korean military alliance — there are almost 29,000 US troops deployed in South Korea — would be strengthened.

At the United Nations, Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who was previously South Korea’s foreign minister, issued an unusually tough statement saying the evidence of North Korean culpability in the torpedo attack was “overwhelming and deeply troubling. I fully share the widespread condemnation of the incident.’’

*****************

Clinton said she was having “intensive consultations’’ with China about the issue, but it appeared that China did not want to take sides in the fight. Speaking to reporters, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said that Beijing’s position was “very clear’’ on the sinking of the Cheonan and that both sides should “exercise restraint and remain cool-headed.’’

Translation: The CHINESE KNOW it was a FALSE FLAG ATTACK -- as does the REST of the WORLD!

Chinese President Hu Jintao, speaking as the Beijing talks opened, did not mention North Korea by name. But he said the United States and China share responsibility for “managing regional hotspots’’ and “safeguarding world peace and security.’’

We are not holding up our end, AmeriKa!

A Defense Department spokesman, Bryan Whitman, said the joint US-South Korean exercises would take place in the “near future’’ and would focus on detecting submarines and monitoring illicit activities.

Jeff Breslau, spokesman for US Pacific Fleet, said the United States and South Korea conduct more than a dozen military exercises a year. Several typically involve antisubmarine operations and maritime security, he said.

Of course, the NORTH is not supposed to feel THREATENED BY THIS in ANY WAY!
