"2 students are caught in school’s drug sweep" by Lisa Kocian and Jason Woods, Globe Staff | Globe Correspondent | April 10, 2010
Two Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School students were found in possession of marijuana yesterday morning during the first-ever campuswide inspection by drug-sniffing dogs, a search initiated because of an increase in drug incidents at the school.
The two students were discovered at the town-owned Featherland parking lot near the school, each with less than an ounce of marijuana. They were each issued a civil violation with a $100 fine, said Sudbury police Lieutenant Scott Nix.
Both students have been suspended pending a disciplinary hearing, according to principal Scott Carpenter’s office.
Carpenter, who is also superintendent of the district, sent a sternly worded e-mail to parents yesterday morning, informing them that the school would be in lockdown while a 16-dog K-9 team from the Middlesex sheriff’s office inspected the campus for drugs. His e-mail sparked a vigorous discussion among parents. The school is known to be high-achieving academically, but also has a fiercely independent streak....
Could you clean up that pile the dog left, please.
Still, these types of K-9 searches of schools are hardly rare. Middlesex Sheriff James DiPaola said his department has conducted 13 school searches using dogs this year....
Yes, JUST ACCEPT the FASCISM, folks! Go back to sleep, America!
His department has been doing school drug searches for 10 years. DiPaola estimated that drugs are found 10 percent to 15 percent of the time. Usually the offense is minor enough that the school handles it without police intervention, he said....
Just a way to WASTE SOME TAX LOOT and JUSTIFY your JOBS, 'eh, fascistas?
Woof, woof, America!
