Around AmeriKa: Texas Three-Step

That is all they have given us for about six weeks:

"LBJ’s youngest daughter falls ill

AUSTIN — A family spokesman says Luci Baines Johnson, the youngest daughter of former president Lyndon Johnson, is being treated at the Mayo Clinic for what doctors suspect is a rare autoimmune disorder that affects the nervous system. Spokesman Tom Johnson said an emergency medical charter flew Johnson to the clinic in Rochester, Minn., on Friday. She was admitted to a hospital in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday after experiencing weakness in her limbs. Doctors suspect Guillain-Barre syndrome, which affects the nerves that control movement and can cause paralysis, according to the spokesman’s statement (AP)."

"Ex-youth jail official sentenced for abuse

ODESSA — A former Texas youth jail administrator has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexually abusing a teenage inmate. Jurors spent more than an hour deliberating Friday before handing down the sentence for Ray Edward Brookins. He was convicted Thursday of abusing the then-18-year-old inmate at the Texas Youth Commission’s West Texas State School in 2004. Prosecutors had asked for the maximum 20-year sentence."

And here the authorities went after the innocent Mormons!

Just what the Gulf needed; more smoke.

Time for me to wheel it out of Texas, too!
