Sorry, I'm NO LONGER BUYING, BG!

Yup, no Christmas presents in Iraq.

"Christmas festivities canceled in Iraq after new Al Qaeda threats" by Yahya Barzanji and Sameer N. Yacoub, Associated Press / December 23, 2010

KIRKUK, Iraq — Iraqi Christians called off Christmas festivities across the country yesterday as Al Qaeda insurgents threatened more attacks on a beleaguered community still terrified from a bloody siege at a Baghdad church two months earlier....

“Nobody can ignore the threats of Al Qaeda against Iraqi Christians,’’ said Chaldean Archbishop Louis Sako in Kirkuk. “We cannot find a single source of joy that makes us celebrate. The situation of the Christians is bleak.’’

Christians across Iraq have been living in fear since a Baghdad church attack in October that killed 68 people. Days later insurgents targeted Christian homes across the capital with a series of bombs.

An Al Qaeda front group that claimed responsibility for the church siege vowed at the time to carry out a reign of terror against Christians.

The Islamic State of Iraq renewed its threats in a message posted late Tuesday on a website frequented by Islamic extremists....

Oh, now I believe them.

"More foreign fighters return to Iraq" by Associated Press / December 6, 2010

BAGHDAD — Foreign fighters have been slipping back into Iraq in larger numbers recently and may have been behind some of the most devastating attacks this year, reviving a threat the US military believed had been mostly eradicated, intelligence officials said.

It is impossible to verify the number of foreign insurgents entering the country. But one Middle Eastern intelligence official estimated recently that 250 came in October....

And the U.S. and Iraq have how many hundreds of thousands of security forces?

And notice OCCUPIERS are NEVER FOREIGN FIGHTERS to the AGENDA-PUSHING, WAR-PROMOTING LIARS of the AmeriKan media?

At the same time, Iraqi officials said there has been a surge in financial aid to Al Qaeda’s front group in Iraq as the US military prepares to leave by the end of 2011.

Yeah, isn't it AMAZING how "Al-CIA-Duh" always stirs things up just as the U.S. is allegedly leaving?

They said it reflects fears by Arab states over the growing influence of Iran’s Shi’ite-led government over Iraq and its Shi’ite-dominated government....

Uh-huh.

Then "CIA-Duh" is our FRIEND?

"Iraqi Christians flee as violence against them rises" by Steven Lee Myers, New York Times / December 13, 2010

QOSH, Iraq — A new wave of Iraqi Christians has fled to northern Iraq or abroad amid a campaign of violence against them and growing fear that the country’s security forces are unable or, more ominously, unwilling to protect them....

This new exodus, which is not the first, highlights the continuing displacement of Iraqis despite improved security overall and the near-resolution of the political impasse that gripped the country after elections in March.

Remember the alleged surge success? The AmeriKan media has never stopped lying or obfuscating about Iraq.

It threatens to reduce further what Archdeacon Emanuel Youkhana of the Assyrian Church of the East called “a community whose roots were in Iraq even before Christ.’’

Yeah, and they managed to live in relative peace for centuries -- until Bush invaded and western intelligence agencies took root in the country.

Those who fled the latest violence — many of them in a panicked rush, with only the possessions they could pack in cars — warned that the new violence presages the demise of the faith in Iraq. Several evoked the mass departure of Iraq’s Jews after the founding of the state of Israel in 1948.

Yeah, yeah, the jews always have it worse than anyone else, blah, blah, blah.

Of course, the more proper and current analogy is what Israel has done to Palestinians, but...

“It’s exactly what happened to the Jews,’’ said Nassir Sharhoom, 47, who fled last month to the Kurdish capital, Erbil, with his family from Dora, a once mixed neighborhood in Baghdad. “They want us all to go.’’

Iraq’s leaders, including Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, have pledged to tighten security and appealed for tolerance for minority faiths in what is an overwhelmingly Muslim country.

Christians, of course, are not the only victims of the bloodshed that has swept Iraq. The Christians and other smaller minority groups here, however, have been explicitly made targets and have emigrated in disproportionate numbers....

And WHO BENEFITS when Christians and Muslims are set at each other?

"Suicide bomber kills 17 outside Baghdad" by Associated Press / December 13, 2010

BAGHDAD — A suicide bomber blew up his car yesterday outside government offices west of the Iraqi capital, killing 17 people, including women and elderly people waiting to collect welfare checks, officials said....

That is NO WAY to WIN OVER a POPULATION!

What IDIOT "terrorists!"

Officials immediately blamed Al Qaeda in Iraq for the attack....

Yeah, that's them!

"There were no claims of responsibility for the attack. Violence across Iraq has subsided in recent months....

And last month they said it was on the rise.

Looks like "CIA-Duh" got a Christmas gift after all:

"Blasts kill tenacious Iraqi police official" by Barbara Surk, Associated Press / December 30, 2010

BAGHDAD — Police commander Lieutenant Colonel Shamil al-Jabouri knew Al Qaeda wanted him dead. He was renowned in the tense northern city of Mosul for his relentless pursuit of the terror group, and insurgents had tried at least five times to kill him.

On the sixth attempt, Al Qaeda left little to chance.

As Jabouri slept yesterday morning on a couch in his office, three men wearing police uniforms over vests laden with explosives slipped through an opening in the blast walls surrounding the compound where his building stood, police said.

Police manning one of at least four observation towers surrounding the compound shot one of the attackers, and his vest exploded. Under the cover of that blast, police said, the other two suicide bombers charged about 100 yards and made it into Jabouri’s single-story building.

They detonated their vests simultaneously — one at the door of Jabouri’s office — killing the commander instantly and injuring another policeman. The two blasts brought the whole building down, burying the slain commander under the rubble, police said.

Suicide vests did that?

The attack in the former militant stronghold was a reminder of the significant gaps in Iraqi security, the challenges the new government will face in trying to close them, and the lengths insurgents will go to take out people they perceive as threats.

And CUI BONO?

I guess AmeriKan forces will just HAVE TO STAY, huh?

Just 10 days ago, Jabouri led a raid that ended in the death of the top Al Qaeda figure in Mosul, his colleagues said. And two months ago he had been instrumental in stopping a gang that had been targeting jewelry stores in the city — robberies that are frequently ways for terror groups to refill their coffers....

An Al Qaeda affiliate, the Islamic State of Iraq, took responsibility for the attack in a statement posted on the Internet....

Oh, now I'm convinced it's all true.

Amazing how the AmeriKan media can find the Internet when it wants to.

"Iraqi security officers killed in attacks" by Associated Press / January 3, 2011

BAGHDAD — Insurgents killed four members of Iraq’s security forces and a city engineer in separate incidents across the Iraqi capital last night, officials said.

Because of the similar nature of the attacks — all shootings by assailants with silencers — and because they all occurred within less than an hour, it seemed to be a coordinated campaign to target security officials and government workers....
