"Providence residents protest police raid
Some Providence residents are protesting a police raid on a Cambodian family’s home last week and accusing officers of brutality. The Providence Journal reports that more than 100 people rallied Saturday near the family’s West End home to denounce the raid and demand an apology from the city. Protesters accused police of dragging a 13-year-old boy from his bed and stomping on him. They also say officers held a 77-year-old woman in the home at gunpoint and mocked a woman using the bathroom. Police Chief Hugh Clements says officers had a warrant to enter the home because of complaints about drug dealing there. Police say they seized 42 bags of marijuana and arrested two people. Clements says no one has filed a complaint about police misconduct during the raid."
