The Plain Truth About the AmeriKan Corporate Media

It's dying....

"Cleveland newspaper cuts third of newsroom staff" AP, August 01, 2013

CLEVELAND — The Plain Dealer in Cleveland cut about a third of its newsroom staff Wednesday, months after revealing it was reducing home delivery of the newspaper.

About 50 reporters, photographers, page designers, and other Newspaper Guild-covered employees received layoff notices, according to the guild. The newspaper did not release a list of those who lost their jobs.

I'm sorry for them, but I'm not. Maybe if they had told the truth and not peddled such s*** to keep their jobs....

‘‘In order to realign our workforce for future growth, we have found it necessary to make additional reductions,’’ publisher Terry Egger said in a news release.

I'll bet the reporters will have no trouble recognizing the contradictions there, seeing as their s***-shoveling pieces are full of them. That's what happens when you are an agenda-pu$hing mouthpiece and not a real newspaper.

Guild chairman Harlan Spector said those let go included veteran reporters and photographers who had become familiar names to the paper’s readers. ‘‘We have not completed a tally,’’ said Spector, who volunteered to be laid off.

Oh, well.

The Plain Dealer, beginning next week, will reduce home delivery to three days a week while also providing a ‘‘bonus’’ home-delivered edition on Saturdays.

The newspaper, which announced the changes to home delivery in April, also will be printed every day and be available for purchase at outlets in northeast Ohio.

I say WELCOME to the BLOGOSPHERE, guys!

Where the REAL REPORTING is DONE, and where you will understand the term poverty after that cushy-assed, sit around the newsroom drinking coffee and watching television job.

The worry right now is who will own it:

"Red Sox owner John Henry launches solo bid to buy Globe" by Beth Healy |  Globe Staff, July 31, 2013

Red Sox owner John Henry has decided to offer to buy The Boston Globe on his own, after his sports investment group dropped out of the process more than a week ago, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

Henry previously submitted a bid for the Globe through New England Sports Network, which is 80 percent owned by his Fenway Sports Group. The other 20 percent is controlled by Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs. But NESN is no longer involved in the process, people close to the secretive bidding process said — leaving Henry to bid as an individual.

The New York Times Co. is selling the Globe and its websites, BostonGlobe.com and Boston.com, along with the rest of the New England Media Group. In addition to Henry, others pursuing a purchase include local and West Coast investors....

Does it really matter which billionaire owns what mouthpiece, I mean, newspaper.

The Globe will be even more $elf-$erving when it comes to the Red Sox.

Nothing about the New York Times letting it go for less than 10 cents on the dollar. Not a good investment at all!

That's why I feel no sympathy for pos corporate pre$$ reporters. That and the elitist insults contained in their articles due to internalization of elite values and servicing of their dwindling readership.

No wonder no one wants to read them anymore.

And off I go to get my coffee and Globe....
