Authorities found several guns, detonator cords, and a handwritten journal entitled “Mass Murder Book” inside the Plymouth home of a child pornography suspect on Tuesday, court records show.

They are also the ones running the porn sites.
Brendan R. Kessler, 25, appeared in federal court in Boston on Tuesday on charges of possessing and distributing child pornography, according to the office of US Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz.
Kessler did not enter a plea and was ordered held pending a detention hearing on Thursday, Ortiz’s office said.
According to an affidavit, authorities had obtained a warrant to search Kessler’s home after learning of suspected child pornography offenses at the address, where he lives with two other people.
During a search on Tuesday, officials seized a computer, hard drives, and other electronic devices from Kessler’s bedroom, and “the preliminary review has uncovered numerous images and videos of children being sexually exploited,” the affidavit said.
In addition to the illicit images, law enforcement authorities also found a number of weapons and a journal with violent content inside the residence, according to the affidavit.
The filing said that “agents observed 3 handguns, 3 shotguns, 8 rifles, numerous rounds of various caliber ammunition, multiple boxes of fireworks, detonator cords, remote firing switches, 2 remote wireless firing systems, a hand-written journal titled ‘Mass Murder Book,’ which contains detailed entries describing steps to be taken in an assault, and a hand-written sheet of lined paper with lists of chemicals needed to create energetic powder."
The affidavit did not say where in the house authorities found these items or if they belonged to Kessler. He has not been charged with any weapons offenses.
Oscar Cruz, the federal public defender who represented Kessler on Tuesday, said it was his understanding that “the weapons do not belong to [Kessler]. They belong to another family member who lived in the home.”
Kessler will seek bail on Thursday, Cruz said. A spokeswoman for Ortiz referred questions about the weapons to the Plymouth County district attorney’s office. That office could not be reached for comment.

A Plymouth man charged in a federal child pornography case could face additional counts in state court, after authorities found guns, detonator cords, and a journal titled “Mass Murder Book” when they raided his home Tuesday.
Brendan R. Kessler, 25, is currently in federal custody on charges of possessing and distributing child pornography. He has not yet entered a plea in US District Court in Boston.
Plymouth Police Chief Michael E. Botieri said Wednesday that state charges against Kessler could be forthcoming.
He added that “we did secure several documents and booklets [from Kessler’s home] that identify certain things that are concerning to us.” Those items referenced “something that could occur in Plymouth,” he said.
In addition, Botieri said police seized several firearms from the home, which another resident lawfully owned, because officers were “concerned with [Kessler’s] access to them.”
According to an affidavit filed in the federal case, FBI agents seized electronic devices from Kessler’s bedroom on Tuesday that allegedly contained child pornography, and they also observed several weapons in the home and a journal with violent content.
