"Social Security recipients to get $250" by Associated Press | March 27, 2009
WASHINGTON - People who collect Social Security or disability benefits will share $13 billion in economic stimulus money, each receiving a onetime $250 payment beginning in May, Vice President Biden announced yesterday.
Translation: here is a chump-change bribe as we fund wars and banks to the tune of trillions.
More than 50 million recipients of Social Security and Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, will receive the $250 payment sometime in May. Recipients won't have to do anything to get the money, which will be sent separately from their regular monthly benefit.
Biden, who is overseeing the $787 billion stimulus program, noted that the Social Security Administration is about six weeks ahead of schedule for distributing the payments.
The vice president noted that a tax cut included in the stimulus bill will take effect in people's paychecks starting April 1. Individuals will get up to $400 total, and married couples $800.
And then.... "Obama's middle class tax cuts will expire"
