Your Friendly Neighborhood Nuclear Plant

Just over the state line, folks.

Strange that the Globe didn't talk to
local activists.

Given the lying fart mist about global-warming and the reality of a cooling phase, we don't need nukes around, 'kay?

Decentralize the green power, tell Gore and the globalists to take a hike on the carbon tax scam, and we'll be just fine.

"Nuclear power foes not stilled in N.E.; Approval nationwide higher than in region" by Bina Venkataraman, Globe Correspondent | May 4, 2009

VERNON, Vt. - Sprawling along the Connecticut River, just a few miles from the Massachusetts border, lies Vermont Yankee, one of the country's oldest nuclear power plants and supplier of about a third of the Green Mountain State's electricity.

When the reactor first booted up in the early '70s, it was a symbol of an energy revolution in New England. Today, it is a symbol of how the region stands apart from the rest of the country, a place where skepticism of nuclear power - in the form of vocal and organized opposition - persists even as the nation gives nuclear energy a fresh look....

One big plus for nuclear is that it does not significantly contribute to global warming. At the same time, the nation's collective memory of accidents such as those at Three Mile Island and Chernobyl is fading....

NOT MINE!!!

Do you SEE how the EARTHY-CRUNCHY, they-don't-mean-harm-to-anyone, FART MISTING LIARS are HURTFUL, America?!!! They HAVE YOU GOING DOWN ROADS NO SANE INDIVIDUAL would go down over LIES!!!!!

Or maybe you wouldn't mind them putting one of these in your back yard for NO REASON other than $$$!

Vermont Yankee officials say that in the communities near the plant, public support is strong for nuclear power....

Wrong! F***ing liars!!!!

Nuclear energy supplies more than a quarter of New England's electricity, more than the national average. Yet some of the fiercest battles over nuclear power have taken place here. People concerned about safety and health risks have tried to shut down reactors from Seabrook, N.H. - the scene of huge demonstrations in the 1970s and '80s - to Rowe, Mass., and Millstone, Conn.

A cadre of activists who oppose Vermont Yankee have built a statewide coalition to oppose the 20-year renewal of the plant's current license, which expires in 2012. The issue will be subject to a vote by the Vermont Legislature in the coming year.

I find it interesting that Globe doesn't mention the failure of the cooling towers.

My local has been all over that!

And this:

At last week's demonstration, activists marched from Montpelier's City Hall to the State House to urge lawmakers to back development of clean sources of energy such as wind and solar. The marchers also announced they had gathered 12,000 signatures in support of closing Vermont Yankee. The demonstration drew about 150 marchers, according to police. Organizers estimated that the march drew 250 people.

They may be pro-nuke but at least THEY COVERED THIS -- the Globe did not. And they wonder why we are not buying their s*** rag anymore?

They've covered protests of DOZENS before, folks! It is all whatever the AGENDA IS that decodes the coverage, and most of this article from the Globe contains a pro-nuke tilt.

Greenpeace, the international environmental group, is also orchestrating a campaign to shut down the Vermont plant, and some activists have gone to great lengths to show their opposition. On April 16, at a public meeting in Brattleboro held by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the executives of Entergy, one antinuclear activist flung compost at a company official.

Hey, I don't approve of agent provocateurs but:

:-)

Nationally, some environmental groups have softened their stance on nuclear power in recent years, citing it as one of the tools that could prevent the worst effects of global warming, which is largely caused by emissions of heat-trapping gases from burning fossil fuels....

No, if you read the blogs you will find that an increasing number of scientists, studies, and evidence are concluding that it is sun spots that have a greater effect than humans and that the planet is actually entering a cooling phase. The weather around here would certainly prove it.

But the Globe has to keep repeating the fart-misting lies-- which is why I won't be purchasing them today (that and the price increase).

The aging Vermont Yankee plant has had its difficulties. In summer 2007, a large pipe in the reactor's cooling tower broke, and the tower collapsed. It was repaired, but a year later weakening supports revealed those repairs to be inadequate....

Oh, I SEE!

The Globe DOES GET AROUND to the PROBLEMS -- only MUCH LATER, as usual!!!

Yeah, and yet the government, MSM, and power company want to fire her up!!!!

Environmentalists and others remain concerned that there is no national plan for long-term storage of nuclear waste.

Yeah,THAT is ONE of MY CONCERNS!! No one EVER THINKS of the SHIT -- except YOURS TRULY, folks!!! It is where you FIND the TRUTH -- muckying around in the s*** (in this instance, reading the Boston Globe's web site).

Nuclear power plants, including Vermont Yankee, use above-ground dry casks to store their spent fuel, a solution that engineers believe will last for the next few decades.

You mean THAT STUFF is just SITTING THERE?

Several energy specialists, including some in the environmental movement, say that New England will at a minimum need to keep its nuclear reactors running if it wants to curb its greenhouse gas pollution quickly.

You know where you can shove the fart mist, agenda-pushers!!!!

Any enviro-cultist arguing for nuke power is a plant, folks!!!

The Conservation Law Foundation, a New England-based environmental group, says it's not opposed to nuclear power in general. Said Sandra Levine, a senior attorney for the group: "It can be part of a broader solution."

--more--"

Anyone ever notice all the agenda-pushing movements (good or ill, local or national), are headed or run by joos?

And now we know why the Conservation Law Foundation is consistently turned to by the Globe for all matters environmental. They are a FRAUD! Type them into my blog search and see what comes up.

This should make you feel easier about restating the nuke plant: Audit finds safety issues at S.C. nuclear weapons facility
