A Belated Birthday Wish

I looked around and I didn't see many commemorations at all.

Just typing this and I'm almost crying.

Happy birthday, master.

"Montblanc’s Gandhi pen stirs controversy" by Associated Press | October 3, 2009

MUMBAI - The decision to turn a man who shunned foreign-made products and pushed simple living to new extremes into a “brand ambassador’’ - as one local website put it - for a luxury goods maker has left some Indians puzzled and others angry.

It just leaves me sad.

I notice the BG pick-up never mentions the nonviolence aspect of his life, How typical of the war papers.

The Most Difficult Essay I Have Ever Read

Here are a few things I did find:

"On this second day of October, we honor the man with the plan as we celebrate his life and the lessons he shared with the world. In loving memory, here are a few of Gandhi’s most famous quotes:

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”
“A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history.”
“Anger is the enemy of non-violence and pride is a monster that swallows it up.”
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
“You must be the change that you want to see in the world.”

I need to work on that anger bit.
